2007 Lotus Exige S

The car had 165 miles on the clock before I commenced my labor. Fortunately, I was given a ride in it and it was fun. The owner did not push it much since it was a new car, no problem with that though, I enjoyed it either way. Next time maybe I'll be able to drive it. Nevertheless, after the drive, the owner specifically wanted me to remove the dealer-induced swirls, so I got to work. Here was my process:

-ONR

-Poli-seal applied with green Edge 2000 pad and PC (despite my complaints about sealing capabilities, the product truly cuts clearcoat well when used with a light-cut pad. I've been able to produce a swirl-free finish on Audi paint a few days ago! This stuff truly saves me time)

-Collinite 476S

-P21S

I really took my time on this one, which made me stay till late, meaning no nice reflection shots or good metallic flake shots either. Nevertheless, I liked the way the paint came out. One problem that I could not correct though was the "marring" on the starshield towards the front of the car. I heard you should not polish this area, so I did not. Any suggestions on how to remove scratches/marring on the starshield? You can probably see marring on some of the before pictures.

Here is a better shot of some of the marring from the Starshield/clear bra...Take a look at the driver's side small headlight. To the left of this small light, you will see streaks. This is the stuff that did not want to come off. I even tried a small area with Optimum polish and a light cut pad without improvement:

Looks like a beautiful Pearl Orange. The Exige S models are very low production from what I hear and they are absolute beasts on the track!!

Thank-you all for the comments! Unfortunately, the vehicle was damaged by some idiot. The owner is fine, just frustrated, but it will get back to being perfect soon I bet.

Nice! It looks great and has a nice glow.

Too bad it got crunched! :hairpull Guess that means more :waxing: for you!

very nice job man. with you taking care of that car im sure it will look new and perfect for a long time!

Hey, that's my car. LoL Yes, CP Detailing did an excellent job. I'd be into detailing the car myself except that I'm potentially allergic to many different substances. I'll be using the services of Cp detailing on a regular basis to keep my Exige S in perfect show car condition. :)

That is one nice swirl/scratch free Lotus. Interesting design on that vehicle, the front looks like it's smiling hahaha.

Thanks for sharing.

Just wondering, what made purchase this vehicle? I've been looking to purchase a sports vehicle and so far on the shopping list I got a the Ferrari Spider and the Lambo Gallardo but haven't decided just yet. Still shopping/re-searching.

Your feed back would be great appreciated oh and sorry to go of topic here :(

Hi Nica,

The Lotus Exige S is not for everyone. It's definitely a niche car. Everything else is bigger and heavier. IMO most other cars are more like GT cars than pure Sports cars. However, for me there is no substitute for light weight and low mass. The Exige only weights about 2000 lbs. This plays very well in terms of handling, braking, acceleration, every aspect of the car. The way I can toss this car is amazing. The handling and nimbleness is incredible. It feels like something you strap on. Like an extension of your body. Almost like a motorcycle but with the stability of four wheels. If you really like sports cars you owe it to yourself to test drive one of these. You might want to bring your check book. :)

Thank-you all for the comments! Unfortunately, right when I left the vehicle was backed-up into a pick-up truck sitting right next to the vehicle. The left rear is damaged after all of my hard work. The owner is fine, just frustrated, but it will get back to being perfect soon I bet.

Hi xfire,

I just read this entire thread and I see that you misunderstood our conversation. Just for the record, I said I was always afraid of backing up into the pickup because of the limited rear visibility in the Exige S. However, this is not how the damage to my left tail light and lip occurred. It seems that the only safe place to park your car is in your own garage. And yes, she will be brought back into her original pristine condition asap. :)

Woops! Thanks for the clarification SimonMExS...I guess I shouldn't be answering phone calls when I am sleeping anymore! Maybe it's the sun?? Thank-you once again everyone for the comments. The funny thing is, SimonMExS STILL forget's to mention the fact that being 2000lbs means AWESOME FUEL ECONOMY! I can seriously go on and on about the Lotus in comparison to the Lambo and Ferrari, but I'll try to be short...Lotus Exige S = supercar performance w/o much practicality and a very difficult ingress/egress for some. Driving an Elise/Exige will truly demonstrate light weight efficiency. Not much is needed to get the car going. My only gripe is a notchy, muted gearbox that truly stinks. If only this car has an S2000 gearbox. Problem is, this will never happen because the Lotus' stick is attached to the transmission via cables.
