2007 Honda S2000 - red with dealer installed swirls

I traded in my '06 Mazdaspeed6 for this new '07 S2000 last week. The dealer was eager to move it so gave me a nice deal. Basically they threw in every installed accessory for free. Thanks to everyone for the feedback in my post in the Car & Driver section of Autopia.

It had been with the dealer long enough to get pretty major swirls in it. I started with the PC to see what it could do, with the intention of moving to the rotary if the PC didn't cut it. But the PC cleaned up the paint fairly quickly, so I stuck with it. The soft Honda CC is great when correcting, but not so much for maintenance. I did a very gentle foam gun wash with a BHB on a panel I polished and noticed some light marring afterwards. :nixweiss Oh well. I'll deal with it and try to be even more careful in my washing technique

I tried SIP, OC and SSR 2.5. I settled on 2.5 as it seemed to work better in the sun than the other two.

I still need to do a bit of work on the hood, trunk and driver's side of the car. I'll likely go over the entire car once again with a finish polish after that.

Wash

Sonus green clay - surprisingly removed practically nothing

SSR 2.5

Poli-Seal

Please excuse the semi-dirty wheels. I was only working on dealing with the paint.

BTW, I love this car!

Just one before of the damage. This is fairly representative of the condition of the entire car with the exception of the hood and trunk, which were worse.

nice dude

i still wish they hadn't brought the displacement up from 2.0 to 2.2 and lowered the redline thusly. One of the reasons why the s2000 was cool, besides the fact that is competing with cars that are much more expensive, was the awesome 9k redline. I wish at least in the s2k CR, they 2.0L would make its return.

oh well, nice ride nonetheless

Looks like you really got it perfect, great shine! I'm not sure that I'd ever seen an S2000 with the hard top before.

Excellent job-a coworker of mine has one, and I've been on him to let me detail it because of the soft paint/megaswirls...and it's a cool car!

Awesome job, awesome car!

I would follow up with something more than Poli-Seal for more protection and a better look. A nice carnauba would look great, or even a sealant like Opti-seal.

Congrats on the car, and nice job on the detail. That red looks extremely wet. :cooleek:

I'd double check your rear passengers tire directional arrow. It looks like the tread is going the wrong way though

I remember that car sitting on the showroom floor about a year ago! It had a huuuuge dealer markup along with the dealer installed hardware (hardtop, bodykit, etc). Glad to hear that they came to their senses and that you got a good deal. Looks great.
