2006 Impala SS, Decon, Polish, Opti-Guard

Rasky's Auto Detailing
So this car actually belongs to one of my co-workers. He picked it up a few months ago from an old lady who really only used it to go to the grocery store. When he bought the car from her it only had 5000 miles on it! Currently it has just over 8000. Overall the car was in great shape but you can tell it was not washed often as there was baked on bugs, tar, and rust blooms.

Process:

Wash - Rinse with PW, foamed with CGCW/OPC and let dwell, rinse and wash with CGCW. Bugs sprayed with OPC a second time to help soften them up
Decon - IronX followed by TarX
Wheels - Sonax Full Effect and various brushes
Tires - OPC, dressed with Hyper Dressing at 3:1
Bonded contaminant removal - Speedy Prep towel and Glide as lube (Awesome)
Paint correction - Sonax Perfect Finish via DA with tangerine LC pads
Wheels lightly polished with Optimum Hyper Polish and tangerine LC pad
Chrome tips - Meguiar's all metal polish
Glass - D120
Coating prep - Wash with ONR and thorough wipe down with CarPro Eraser
Coating - Optimum Opti-Guard, applied to all paint, trim, and wheels

It was hard to capture IronX doing it's thing but all panels were showing heavy signs of iron on the paint.

Thanks for looking,

Always great work coming from your garage Chad. So you really like using the Speedy Prep towel?

Great job on the car Chad. I have been itching to try out the Perfect Finish and those prep towels.

The scissor lift you have, is that a portable model? Or is it bolted on the back side? I really have been looking for the perfect model that would suit my setup and that one looks perfect.

Looks great Chad! Like new, only better ;) :rockon

Thanks Todd! :)

now that's how to make white pop ! very nice chad.

Thanks buddy!

Yes, I love it! So far I have not seen any marring from it on the cars I've done. My fingers used to cramp up when claying and the towels speeds things up quite a bit. Glide smells awesome too and it could even double as my new cologne! :D

Thanks Thomas! This is the first car I've used the Perfect Finish on other than some PPF, but it looks very promising so far. ;)

The lift is portable, as it it moves around as needed (pump doubles as a dolly), but at 1000lbs you can't exactly pick it up and put it in your car. ;)

Direct-Lift Pro 6MR. $1800 shipped. :bigups

Haha yes, I don't think I will be trying to put it in the back of my S2000 any time soon. :D

Thanks for the info on it, this is exactly what I wanted and it fits the budget too!

Just to note. The lift comes with two sets of adapters, low ones and high ones for trucks. I've found that the majority of the cars I've done require adapters that are between the two sets I have in order for the arms to clear the undercarriage of the cars. For now I've just been doing the Macgyver trick (hockey pucks) but I'm looking for other adapters that will work before having some fabricated. :D

Ahh very good. I was looking at the website and noticed the lifters looked kinda high. I may have to grab some good ol wood blocks or go your route with the hockey pucks haha. Thanks again!

Your co worker made a great find and you did a great job. How long after the optiguard is applied does it need to cure before it is driven or wet. I want to have it applied to a new DD car and I am concerned about how long it needs to be dust free and dry as it can be garaged but it would be displacing a toy of mine.:)

Thansk!

With Opti-Guard it really only needs one hour, especially when it's 90+ degrees out, but I always try to have my clients leave it overnight if possible. With the 2.0 I believe you will want to give it 12 hours (before getting it wet). ;)
