2006 Holden Caprice - Megs NXT, UQD & DC Cleaner Wax

Hi all,

Took a few pics of my 2 year old Caprice after it received a coat of Megs NXT 1.0 paste, a little Megs Cleaner Wax on the side skirts, followed by Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer 24 hours later.

I like NXT 1.0's ability to clean a little. It has just enough cleaning abilities to keep the surface beautifully clear between full details. Even if its hard to gauge its ability to add wetness/depth etc, one thing is certain IMO - it leaves the surface clean, resulting in beautiful colour and reflection.

The side skirts received Megs Deep Crystal Cleaner Wax because they had a fair bit of debris glued on, and NXT's cleaning abilities run out in these circumstances. This is Megs' entry level AIO but it is effective (within reason) and easy to work with. The protection left behind is short lived, but nevertheless, its enough to last until the next coat of NXT goes on. Megs ColorX would have been a better AIO option for this task, but I didn't have any on hand. I tend to use Megs #151 Paint Reconditioning Cream when I need a heavy hitting AIO, but it would have been overkill in this case.

Here's the pics:

What's wrong with gm?...I would take that any day over their hideous impala. That car looks great especially since you used otc products

Call me crazy but that car is gorgeous. i built one online and the color palate is not bad at all. Plus you can get one with a 6.0l V8 LS2???? I would have bought the Holden Caprice over my TBSS. GM wonders why they need bailing out. This car would sell head and shoulders over the Crown Vic. They have the car in their arsenal but their head is to far up their keester todo something smart like tap into the global car catalog instead of building yet another model the US domestic market doesn't want

That's the problem, the Crown Vic isn't even sold to the public anymore. Why you ask? Because they didn't sell very many. This car wouldn't sell very well here either.

Look at GM's current/past Holden offerings here in the States: Holden Monero/Pontiac GTO= Sales Flop. Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8= Not selling too great.

It's a nice looking car, but not what the general public is looking for. Pretty much a niche vehicle here (V8, RWD).

Anyways, car looks great!

Thanks guys, the aim was to use OTC LSP products and see what the results would be after having learnt so much using the boutique products. I note however, that paint prep was done with Menzerna polishes 12 months ago, and I did a P21s paint cleanse 3 months ago (even though I could see no need for it - this car is a garage queen by accident because I use public transport mostly).

As for the potential of this car in the US, its worth noting that this car gets plenty of sales because government departments buy them in large numbers and it has no other competition in the Australian long-wheelbase market - it is about a quarter of the price of an S-class or 7-series. Private buyers are few and far between. I'm not sure that the same level of government support would be forthcoming in the US.

Th GTO they "brought" is NOT a GTO. In addition, it was expensive. The current G8. I really like the car... But, it WAY too pricey, and the high cost of fuel killed it. The rear wheel drive, V8 and manual transmission G8 seems like a nice car however.

And let's face it, the civilian Crown Vic is a joke. Old technology, under-powered and the fuel consumption is heavy... When they made something decent, the Marauder was still ridiculously over-priced. The Marauder should have been the standard Crown Vic / Grand Marquis. The Holden Caprice in this thread is gorgeous. A healthy V8, sexy lines and I'm sure it handles better than a Crown Vic, sounds like a winner.

Yea, I've wanted this car for a while, and its not offered over here. I would trade my Impala for a new Caprice in a second!

Hey, Could we get some engine and interior pics?
