Mustang Shumstang.... Check out the concept for the next camaro. It looks like they are going for as retro of a look as the '05 Mustang went for. I don't know if I like it or not, but it is a camaro, so I'm sure it is smooooooooth. :naughty :rockon

Mikeyc: I'm with ya in the choice of the Challenger
I read in Car & Driver that there might be an SRT8 version with 500 horsies under the hood :rockon

Someone did a post about it on another forum.
Sweet looking car, I just don't care for the pointed nose. Love the rest of it.

I'm pretty sure that is at least an 07' design because the 06's are already out. ;)

Actually that concept is billed as an '09 in all the literature I've seen on it; they're saying a new camaro is expected in production for 2009. Not a bad choice if you ask me; the 40th anniversary of the '69, the best looking camaro ever made!

Oh, and I'll let you know how smooth it is after I hit up NAIAS and see it in person

that wont happen because the FORD gt which is currently Fords Company pace car has 550 HP. Which means that if the SHELBY GT500 had 500Hp it would not have been wise for ford to do that. Sucks the GT is discontinued. :detective GM will not put the Camaro in the same level as the C6 :detective

I read an article in Automobile magazine this weekend where the Z06, Ford GT, and Viper were compared. The Z06 beat them all in every area that counts. The GT may hit a higher top speed, but the Z06 is a more practical car that won't get as much attention. They are all in the 500+ HP range. It would be great if they could get a Camaro to match those numbers, but probably not in the first production year. Then again... by '09 we may have 500 HP Hondas out there, so I guess anything is possible.

the Z06 is a bagain & the Shelby gt500 an ever bigger one,. i saw a video of a Z06 kill a Gallardo. I would post the link if i can find it. :alien: Also wasnt the GT500 production version going to be revelaed today @ Detriot ?

a z06 and gallardo, although both characterizing as "super cars" are not the same breeds.

the gallardo, although very fast, was made and inspired to be a super handling speed machine, abled to take corners and turns so fast, some cars wouldnt be able to take that speed on a straight-away.

the gallardo kills the z06 on the track or slalom. on a drag strip, u gotta give props to american muscle. how fun is driving in a straight line anyway!

Not impressed. It looks like a basterdized Camaro/Caddy/Vette. At least with the New Mustang you can tell that every element of that car was part of the mustang heritage and refind to mesh with the new body style!

As for the ZO6 being "Better" than a GT I find it really difficult to beleive you also have to remember what you are buying! Z06 is a sports car that is worthy of the race track. The GT is a Race car worthy of driving on the streets! ... Big difference there is a lot of refinment that is in the Z06 where the GT was designed as a race car.

Let's see... Ford GT = $160,000 Corvette Z06 = $66,000

For a near $100,000 dollar difference in price I would have expected more. A car that achieves nearly the same results at nearly 40% of the price is something to be respected.

very true the gallardo can handle turns. But for the Price & the fact that a ZO6 takes it :chop I think the Z06 would be a better investment if youre into speed . Im a Mustang Guy * when the GT500 is released im sure adding a couple thousands on the Engine means the Z06 will have no chance & the shelby would still be cheaper. ( which means that if a gallardo on a str8 line also will have no chance. based on the video i posted the Z06 is faster than the gallardo & cheaper.

I was a Mopar fan in high school, and my best friend had a 1970 Challenger. He sold it for $1,000 just before he went into the Air Force...I wish I would have bought it, the only thing wrong with it was a quarter sized hole inthe middle of the trunk floor, and that he put an ungodly hood scoop he made functional

I dont know. That Z06 is incredible. Until I either A) drive both cars or B) See an ACTUAL head to head test (ie. same group of drivers, same track, same conditions) by a CREDIBLE mag....I wont make any assumptions about which car performs better in which area. I will say this though, I played with Corvette matchbox cars LONG LONG LONG before I could ever even think about driving and owning a Vette has always been a dream of mine, so I may be a bit biased when the vette is compared to anything. :D

The europeans build some incredible dream machines, but my personal dream machine was built in Bowling Green. :D
