2006 Black Mercedes ML500 Severe overspray removal - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL

Nice video once again.....I about fell off my chair after the razor blade part! 3 days on an overspray job. That's a big job? Did the owner ever think about making an insurance claim?

Wow, if nothing else I think that demonstrates that an aggressive clay shouldn't be taken lightly. I'm not sure if I was more horrified by the overspray or by the paint after claying!

Nice save, though.

Very nice work Garry, I hate claying and seeing that overspray made me cringe! I'm sure the customer was super pleased.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I asked him about an insurance claim and he just said "id rather not. " So I said ok and went to town. It was probably my most difficult overspray removal job to date.

Garry, I feel every bit of your pain from a paint overspray job. I was contracted to do 26, that's right 26, cars that were splattered from a company painting 70 ft tall water tanks! It took me a month and a half to finish them all (mixed in with my regular work). Luckily some were only splattered on one side. Even had one motorcycle which was very tedious.

I did the same thing you did, red medium clay for most of the painted areas. Followed with a Meg's Paint Reconditioning Cream. I did buy a bottle of a paint remover that was suppose to work miracles on removing the paint splatter from road lines. It worked okay on some of the plastics but not so well on the painted surfaces.

Since the razor blade comment is the popular point here, I'll admit, I used them on the windows. :)

26 overspray cars? Thats even more than my last run @ 14. I dont care what the task, overspray doesnt bother me a bit. Ive done several motorcycles as well, they are a pain! There are so many places where overspray can hide.

Fo this Mercedes, Megs D151 just wasnt enough abrasive power to remove all of the micromarring.

That was one heck of a project. Great work. Have you ever tried the Nanoskin Autoscrub? Makes quick work of overspray.

Thanks, John. I have not used the Nanoskin Autoscrub, but I will look into it.

Nice video and entertaining narration :D

Looks like a heck of a project, and I'm sure you're not looking forward to anything similar coming through the shop again! Sometimes repeat clients can be a PITA ;)

Truthfully, that Mercedes was a pain, but I am driven by a good challenge. BRING IT!
