I'm planning to order the DM kit from CMA together with 2 viper MF bonnets

and the 6 inch counter weight from coastaltools..



Are the pads in the DM kit enough ? Should i order any spare pads in case one of them gets worn out ?

Is there anything else i shoud get from coastaltools?



It seems stupid for me to order $1.5 worth of parts from them and ask them to ship it over to canada.

Do the local porter-cable dealers carry it ?

The DM KIT from CMA is a good start. It has all the necessary equipment to get you started.



1. (1)6 inch back plate

2. (2)white polishing pads

3. (1)gray finishing pad

4. (1)lambswool cutting pad

5. (1)yellow cutting pad

6. (2)terry cloth bonnets



and with the 2 MF bonnets you should be set with the pads.



You will need to add pads (things wqear out) but it depends on what you want to do with the PC.



Try to find a local dealer that would sell the 6 inch counter weight, seems fruitless to buy a $1.50 part and send it to canada.

What I'm in the process of doing is expanding my inventory of pads to have one for every product I use plus a few extras for other cars or uses.



For example, I will have one pad for 3M SMR, one for PPCL, one for Blackfire polish, etc.



This ain't cheap. So far pads are running me $9-13 each, depending on where I buy them. Plus I have to consider the various pad "aggression" and their use (polishing, scratch removal, etc).



My suggestion is to start the way you are starting now and decide on what products you will use regularly. Then buy more pads as you need them.



Bonnets are a separate issue but prolly should be used in a similar manner.
 
Hello again. This was my second correction, a Dodge Neon SRT-4 that belongs to a former co-worker. I performed a 3 step correction with the goal of 80% correction because it is an Auto-X car. Again, please excuse products used.

Porter Cable 7424XP
Meguiar's M105
Meguiar's M205
Menzerna PO85RD
Lake Country 5.5" Cyan & Tangerine Hydro-Tech Pads
Lake Country 5.5" grey CCS finishing pad
Mixture of towels
91% Isopropyl Alcohol

LSP - WG DGPS 3.0 (x2 for even coverage) topped with Pinnacle Souveran paste.

Moving on to the bumper. This is where the most work occurred. I worked to the safest level and best of my ability with a DA Polisher. I plan to pick up a rotary and also learn machine wet sanding, which would have helped a lot for the bumper!

Thanks! As I said this was only my 2nd time. I spent about 22 hours on the Cobalt, mostly as a learning curve. When I worked on this one, I spent about 20 hours total. I really need to pick up a rotary to cut down on the correction time!

I really need to pick up a rotary to cut down on the correction time! Good job. Getting a rotary and your XP would be a great dual.

Don't beat yourself up over the time that it required to get it to where you have it. I don't really know how much quicker you would have been with a rotary, being that you haven't done many corrections it would have still been a learning curve with that machine.

You did great job! The befores look like all the Neon's in my town, and I know there are a couple guys that would love to have their car looking as wet as how you made that one look.
