<span style="font-size:13px;color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;"><span>Well, this it's how I spent five hours of my Saturday. Detailed the exterior of my 2005 Mercury Montego.

1. Washed exterior, including wheels, tires, & wheel wells.

2. Clayed the wheels, using paint cleaning clay, wheel cleaner, & a bucket of soapy water. Had to try & get rid of as much accumulated brake dust & road tar as possible.

<span>3. New clean bucket of soapy water & another hunk of paint cleaning clay. Clayed all the areas behind the wheels, on both sides, where there was road tar & other things bonded to paint.

4. Polished the windshield with abrasive glass polish.

5. Washed the car again.

6. Broke out my recently rebuilt Porter Cable 7334 orbital polisher, a polishing pad, and a bottle of Zaino All-In-One Paint Polish & Protectant, and went over the whole car. While it dried, got out the bottle of Zaino Clear Seal, and treated the wheels.

7. Wiped off all the Zaino AIO, and wiped the car down with Z-6 detailing spray.

8. Changed pads to a finishing pad, got a bottle of Zaino Z-2 Pro Paint Sealant, mixed some with some Polycharger Wax Booster, and went over the whole car.

9. While it dried, got of a couple of Aquapel Glass Treatment one time use applicators, and treated all the glass.

10. Wiped off the first application of Zaino Z-2 Pro, and then wiped the whole car down again with Z-6 detailing spray.

11. Repeated step 8, and gave the car another layer of Z-2 Pro.

12. While the second application of Z-2 Pro dried, got out the bottles of Z-9 and Z-10, leather cleaner and leather treatment,, and cleaned, & treated the drivers seat and steering wheel.

13. Wiped off the Z-2 Pro, the got out a bottle Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Sealer, mixed it with the water based version of Polycharger, and went over the whole car one last time.

14. Backed the car out of the garage, looked it over in the sun, to see if I missed any spots, and took a couple of pictures, and cleaned up in the garbage.

Last step - took a freaking shower and collapse. I was beat! Interior needs more work, but that's going to be another project.
