2005 Honda Odyssey

DaGonz

Autopia fire/rescue.
2005 Honda Odyssey, light blue metallic, grey/blue interior.

This vehicle is owned by a neighbor who sold it private sale and wanted it cleaned up for the new owner.

The interior was okay, the mats had some ingrained dirt and dog hair (they own a Golden Retreiver) and the back seat and rear interior glass had "nose prints" all over them.

The paintwork was in decent condtion, some scratches from the dog, some deeper ones and some road tar on the lower panels.

The Process:

Tire and wheel assemblies:
Tires were cleaned with CAR Products Maxiwhite tire cleaner, wheels were cleaned with CAR Products Magnum wheel cleaner, wheel wells were cleaned with ZepCitrus in a 50/50 solution. via pressure washer. Wheel wells were dressed with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing, tires dressed with Meguiar's Endurance.

Paintwork: Washed with Meguiar's Gold Class, clayed with Meguiar's blue detailing clay using soapy water as a lubricant. Road tar was removed by first spraying with CAR Products Solv-All (similar to Dupont's Prep-Sol) and wiped down with a meshed sponge, then washed and clayed again.

The deeper scratches were wet sanded with 3M 2000 grit sandpaper. The paintwork was buffed with Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner with a Meguiar's foam cutting pad via rotary, polished with Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 and a Meguiar's polishing pad via PC, then the finish was waxed using Meguiar's NXT times 2 using a 3M finishing pad via PC.

Interior: The interior was vacuumed, the leather seating surfaces were cleaned and conditioned with Lexol, the interior plastics were cleaned with Zep Citrus mixed 75/25 via microfiber and treated with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing.

The carpets just needed a light misting with Zep Carpet and upholstery cleaner and wet vacuumed. As I stated earlier, the mats had ingrained dirt and dog hair. They were scrubbed with Zep Carpet cleaner and extracted with my Bissell LGM.

Glasswork: Interior and exterior glass was cleaned with Stoner's Invisible Glass and microfibers, exterior glass treated with RainX.

Engine Compartment: Misted with Zep Citrus 50/50 and wiped down, treated with Meguiar's Hyper dressing.

Total time: 6 hours

DaGonz- Nice job, and yeah, that's a good color.

Great to see a minivan in nice condition :D

Interesting that the #2/7006 finished out nicely enough for the #9/8006 to be your follow-up.

Oh, and it's nice to see somebody using Zep stuff too :xyxthumbs

Is that the same Zep I see at home centers like Lowes or Home Depot?

How does it work on auto carpets/mats with food stains and ground in grease, grime, etc.?

Yes it is. The only stains I really haven't been able to get out with the Zep (the carpet cleaner and the citrus cleaner, if mecessary) is red juice stains.

I allowed the Meg's#2 to break down, then removed the residue with a microfiber towel. I did a small section at a time (no more than 2'X2', if that)

Ah, sounds like the current formulation might finish out a little nicer than the old rotary-only stuff. Good move, working small areas at a time.

I'm partial :D but it *does* look nice.

The new formula #2 is a very nice product. It didn't get much in terms of marketing from Meguiar's and doesn't get talked about much here but it's good nonetheless.

That's the same color I have! "Ocean Mist Metallic." Hides dirt quite well, and looks pretty good cleaned up, but a bit hard for me to get some depth on it. I've used NXT earlier, and now JW Prime Acrylic+JW Acrylic Jett + (on the hood) OS. Perhaps another coat of AJ . . . .

Really nice work, very wet looking finish. :)

I am not a minivan person, but I'd drive an Odyessy. Great styling and it has VTEC, yo!

I wasn't really a minivan person either, but now, I wish it could be my daily driver!
