2005 Black 350ZR, light swirls, & Zaino

I am the proud owner of a new 2005 350Z Roadster in Super Black. I have been reading a lot on this site and feel like I have learned a lot about detailing from all of you fine people. Given that, I'm also the proud new owner of a PC, multiple LC pads, foamgun, dedicated "drying" leafblower, DF towels & a Zaino Ultimate Protection Show Car Kit . Unfortunately, the dealer who cared for my car didn't give it the necessary care while it was on the lot and it has swirl marks. The marks aren't deep, just a product of bad washing habits. Given that the car is new, I was planning on doing the following to get her prepped for the Zaino process:



1) Z-7 wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

2) Z-18 claybar

3) Z-7 wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

4) 3Mâ„¢ Perfect-Itâ„¢ Swirlmark Remover 39009 - applied with PC (at speed 5) & LC white polishing pad

5) Dawn wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

6) Z-6

7) Z-5 w/ ZFX

8) Z-6

9) Z-2 pro w/ ZFX

10) Z-6

11) Z-2 pro w/ZFX

12) Z-6



Am I missing a critical step and is my swirl removal step (#4) sufficient? Just wanted to get some feedback on my plan prior to getting started for the first time...
 
Congrats on the purchase :).





For a swirl remover, I'd pick up Poorboy's SSR 2.5 and SSR1. They will surely benefit you better overall and are workable in the sun :).
 
If I understand it correctly I would switch your steps 1 and 5 and skip step 6.

I think your z car will look great Z-2Pro over Black.

I should have been a little more clear. I'm having a 3m Clear Bra installed on the mirrors, fenders, bumper, and front part of the hood between steps 4 & 5. That is why I reserved the Dawn wash until later. I'll skip step 6 if that is redundant. Do you think the PC speed & pad selection is "OK"? This will be my first go at machine polishing and just want to make sure I do it right. I'm trying to go the route of least aggressive first and thought this was a good starting point...

The 3m product seems to get mixed reviews but was readily available in my area. Do you have any specific "problem" experiences with the 3m product? Being that I don't need anything too aggressive I thought it would be fine, but would like others opinions on it as well. It seems that product selection is a lot less important than prep and process from what I have read...
 
Based on the feedback thus far, here is the ammended steps.



1) Z-7 wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

2) Z-18 claybar

3) Z-7 wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

4) 3Mâ„¢ Perfect-Itâ„¢ Swirlmark Remover 39009 - applied with PC (starting at speed 3) & LC white polishing pad (Poorboy's recommended - open to further recommendations if the 3m product is not "good")



3m Clear Bra installation



5) Dawn wash (foamgun & dual bucket method)

6) Z-5 w/ ZFX

7) Z-6

8) Z-2 pro w/ ZFX

9) Z-6

10) Z-2 pro overnight with no ZFX

11) Z-6 (someone recommended Z8 for this last step - other feedback appreciated)
 
3m machine glaze or 3000 SMR should work fine as long as you follow with a 50Alcohol/50water mixture to remove any possible oils
