I'm relatively new to detailing, this is my fourth real detail. It's my dad's car and was usually garaged until I bought my car and now it sits outside most of the time. I felt bad kicking my dad's car out of the garage so I did a full detail minus engine bay (I don't have the products required for that yet). Using my limited supply of products I think it turned out pretty good. I've got this turtle wax buffer I used with this "polishing pad" to attempt to take out the minor swirls. It got about 50% of the swirls out after a lot of work. The Porter Cable is on the way (Christmas).

Total Time: 10 Hours

Process

Exterior:

1. Meguires Deep Crystal 2 Bucket Wash

2. Wheels cleaned with Mothers FX Wheel Cleaner (I've gone through a whole bottle and it didn't work very well for me)

3.Claybar using Meguire's Quick Detailer and Clay

4. Polish using Meguire's #83 and Turtle Wax Buffer (yeah I know, its no PC)

5. Wax with Klasse All-In-One

6. Seal With Klasse Sealant Glaze

7. Tires and Wheel Wells Dressed with Armor All

Interior:

1. Vacuum using 2 HP wet/dry shop Vac

2. Blue Coral Upholstery Cleaner

3. Clean all vinyl with some over the counter cleaner

4. Door jambs cleaned with blue rags

This is what sisters that don't know how to clean a car do to it.

A friend of mine has an 06 4Runner and it has some of the softest paint I have ever run into. Is this common? While it makes polishing out defects easy, it has to be done quite frequently because of how easily they go in. At his current rate, he will have the clearcoat buffed off by Christmas! Is this a standard Toyota thing or is it just the color (it is a dark blue)?

Great job on your '04!
