2004 Carbon Black M3

I was contacted a few weeks ago by a true M3 enthusiast who had just got his dream car. Everything on the car was perfect, except the paint. That's where I came in. He let me know his expectations and I tried to exceed them. When I first arrived, I pulled the car out of the garage and started to wash it. I started with the wheels and tires as usual. The wheels were cleaned using P21S Wheel Gel and the tires were cleaned with P21S Total Auto Wash.

Here is a picture of the wheels after being sprayed with P21S Wheel Gel.

Agitating the dirt on the back side of the wheels.

After the wheels and tires were clean, it was time to start on the paint. The whole car was sprayed down with P21S TAW to make sure the paint was as clean as possible before I started polishing.

The car was then foamed with Griots Garage Car Soap.

After the washing process, the car was clayed with Sonus green clay. I then checked the paint for defects.

I then pulled the car back into the garage and begin to try a few test spots. After trying a few test spots, I was getting the best results using Menzerna SIP followed by Menzerna 106FF. So thats what I used. After polishing the paint to perfection and refining it with 106FF, I pulled the car back out in the sun to snap a couple of pictures.

After these pictures I went back and re-buffed a few areas where there were still defects, and then I gave the whole car a wipe down with a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol. The car was then sealed using Ultima PGP.

The tires were dressed with Surf City Garage Beyond Black.

All plastic trim received Black WOW.

Wheels were sealed using Opti-Seal.

Then came the final pictures.

Awesome work, but for some reason halfway reading your thread I thought the car detailed was an Acura TL. My mistake, but a great detail none the less.

How much UPGG would you say is used per panel? I use one spray per every panel or two and still get streaks. Just curious on your method for that one.

Excellent finish, rotary or DA?

Thanks for the comments.

I use about one mist of the applicator per panel. When I first started using it, I had trouble getting it to lay down streak free, but now that I have applied it many times I am learning how to lay it down perfectly. Just keep practicing with it and remember less is sometimes better. The results will be worth it. Also remember to allow atleast 30 min to an hour for it to completely dry. Here is a picture of what it will look like if you apply it to heavy, as I did on the trunk. This dried out about 90%, and then a simple buff with a quick detailer and microfiber took care of the rest.

your TLC touch made it perfect, good job!

p.s. how do you like the griots car wash?

Thanks Al.

I won the Griots Car Wash in one of our Porsche Concours events and figured I would give it a try. So far I am really liking it. It is very, very slick and has a good cleaning power as well.
