So I worked on a 2004 white toyota camry; it was a favor to neighbor of mine...and it turned into somewhat of a test of will lol...what I THOUGHT would've been a simple case of tree sap turned into an oxidized, tunnel ravaged nightmare.... so here we go. I think I should call this Murphy's law
Looking at the paint, all I could do was cringe, I mean I thought I was touching sandpaper... wash with TAW didn't do squat..and even though claybar took off a crap ton of stuff (which also btw took more than 8x longer than I thought it would) it STILL felt like total crap...
The car was getting to the point where there it was getting no reflection...
AND they told me they took it to the car wash a week ago...
This is the best reflective spot I found on the car....the rest you'd think it was covered in flour or something.... really odd..
That is DEFINITELY not beading... there was a rain storm the night before...this day was SUPPOSED to be a clear sunny day...ended up raining as I was getting ready to put down the collinite 476
Bunch of these stains all over that wouldn't come off even with clay bar...
The "fresher" stains
This mortified me...this is nowhere even close to 1 section....pretty much every swipe I had to refold ... I mean car soap/onr AND TAW before claybar and still....needless to say--fresh clay bar ended up in the trash after this car...
I don't know if you see it clearly but that line you see on the right side...left side is m205 (hesitant to use more abrasive stuff seeing the condition of the paint and the over frequent visits to the tunnel wash) the right side is post claybar....
Another 50/50 I know the picture's bad but if you see that oxidation line--left side polished right side stil oxy-dazed
Sorry I didn't log the progress as well as I'd like--but I was REALLY running short on time and had a ton of work to do--in a few weeks (I have another licensure exam coming up so told them I can't do it atm) I'll be doing their daughters CR-V....this particular job I ended up not even charging half...(they were a really nice sweet couple and well we're neighbors so didn't feel right esp since I knew I couldn't give them 100% on this job which they were fine with since i'm still also recovering from shoulder surgery) But for hte CR-V I'm thinking I really might have to....
