Please feel free to comment on my work. I'm always looking to improve and suggestions are always welcome.

My process was as follows:

Wash

Clay

Wash #2

Compound with Meguirs

3M Glaze

AIO

wax

Before...........

The Lexus looks great Nick, I'm curious about you washing twice. Was this really necessary after claying as the soap had dried? You used Meguiar's of some type to polish then used a glaze. I can see the glaze if you're going to go to wax but you used AIO which would remove it all. Just thinking about saving you product and time there. Very nice wax on the black, what did you use? It's hard to tell it's the same car. Nice dressing on the tires btw! :bigups

I like to do a quick wash just to cleanse the surface after claying because you get streaks from the clayed surface.

I was confused about your comment on the process. I mentioned the meguirs compound I used to deal with the scratches. I then proceeded to 3M glaze which would remove the swirls and restore some paint gloss. The AIO was my polish step, which has other properties similar to glaze and wax as well.

Hopefully that clears up the confusion. As for the wax, I believe it was colinite. It works pretty well for me.

Is it not recommended to use the products in that order???? anyone???

Normally, I thought you glaze then polish a vehicle.

Sorry for any confusion. I can understand washing again to get rid of any streaks from the soap or clay lubricant. You mention you used a 3M glaze, was it 3M Perfect-it III machine glaze by any chance? If so this is much like a final polish rather than a traditional glaze. I can see you would used that to remove any micro marring etc. I had asked a similar question in this thread as I was puzzled why a glaze was used. http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72902

If you used the Perfect-it III then I don't know if using AIO would really have any benefit other than doing a final polish and cleaning the paint of any residue. You may have been able to go right from the glaze to the Collinite. Regardless you did amazing work, how long in total did you spend on the LS 430? As for order, I have always been in the polish, then glaze camp.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Ben I did use the 3M PI-3 glaze, but I always did in that order.

What is the order of some of the pros when using 3M PI-3 glaze?????

thanks,

nick

Same order you used. 3M's Foam Pad glazes are just finishing polishes under a diffirent name, if you're looking for a true glaze in the 3M lineup you want Imperial Hand Glaze. AIO will take the polishing oils off that 3M leaves behind - if you're going to follow with SG or a sealant, its a good step. If you're going to finish with a carnuba, skipping AIO and leaving on the polishing oils will leave a wetter finish.

Good to hear (see) that the Collinite can produce such a nice shine (obviously when used with the other products, also). Did you use 845 or 476? Or another Collinite product?
