2002 Berger SS Camaro Restoration

I was contacted by this client to restore the finish on this 2002 Berger SS Camaro.

This car is #66 of 100 and is a Stage I 380HP version which consists of cold air induction, Hurst shifter, GMMG chambered exhaust, Eibach springs, Fikse FM5 wheels, drilled rotors and Berger badges.

As it was dropped off.

Rinsed.

IMG_1586.jpg

As you can see here there was plenty of protection on the surface and needed to be stripped away.

Client wanted the front bumper stripes replaced since they were nicked up pretty bad.

Removing the stripes.

Now onto the paint.

Since this was an SS with a fiberglass hood the only panels I could take readings from were the rear quarters and rocker panels.

Some readings were in the 70 micron range so I had to tread lightly.

Onto the vinyl stripes.

The stripes were in terrible shape. Not only are they near impossible to replace but quite pricey as well for original replacements.

This scratch was pretty deep and was a concern for the owner.

You know - I'm a Camaro guy from waaaaay back. my first car was the rare (2575 made) 1972 Z-28. So when Chevy came out with the new one, I was not all that impressed. It's just my opinion but these body styles look better than the 66-69 and that new thing.

Nice work on the car, I really like how the silver shines now.

I recently sold my black as hell 2000 ws6. Love the 4th gens and I'm with you on the early 2nd gens. My dream car is a 73 SD trans am with modern interior/drive train. White with blue phoenix on the hood.

That is an amazing turn around. Love those body style camaros.

very awesome!!!!! what pad/chemical did you use on the stripes?

Also, I am very curious to this as well. I mean granted the stripes looked like they had been cleared at some point, so made for some area of correction. But still i am curious as to the process behind what you did.

Great job on a cool car. I too am curious about the stripes.

Thanks for the comments.

As for the stripes. I don't post my products or processes. I have local detailers that would love to know what I know and monitor the boards I frequent. I'm not going to give them the answers. Sorry, that's just the way it is. I know this because they have approached some of my clients claiming to do the work I can do for less.

I can tell you that the stripes are not cleared.
