2001 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Cabrio Aero

I had the pleasure to work on this gorgeous Guards Red Porsche for a new client of mine. This client was looking for me to treat the car like my own (no problem :)) and go to town on the swirls, light scratches, and some rock chips. The overall condition of the car was very clean (in the realest sense of the word). Barely any bonded contaminants, interior was only lightly soiled, and the wheel wells (even after 40k) looked brand new. I guess it helps that it's been garaged since new and not driven in the rain.

Anyway, I got there early and was lucky to have some shade outside to work on the interior. As aforementioned, only light soil, so no befores. My finals were:

-Steam clean all carpeted areas

-Zaino Z9 to clean leather, vinyl, rubber, plastic

-Zaino Z10 to dress/protect leather, vinyl, rubber, plastic

-Zaino Z-PC > Z-AIO > Z5 Pro on painted console and seat backs

-Zaino Z8 in jams

-Stoner's Invisible Glass on glass, mirrors

The exterior, as it always does, posed the most of the problems. It was just littered with swirls, light scratches, a couple chips, and some etched in water spots. The owner actually had it detailed a couple months back for a pretty penny. He commented "it doesn't even look like they did anything".

The owner wanted me to step in hard and correct as close to 100% as possible without sacrificing the paint's life. My finals for the exterior were:

-Zaino Z7 Wash

-Zaino Z18 Clay with Z7 as lube

-P21s Wheel Cleaner to clean wheels

-EFHI cut 5:1 to clean tires, wells

-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut/Optimum Polish (30/70) via rotary and LC CCS Orange Cutting Pad @ 1500 (x 2 on trunk and hood)

-Menzerna PO85RD via rotary and LC CCS White Polishing Pad @ 1300

-Zaino Z-AIO on exhaust and rear window

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro on paint, lighting

-Zaino Clear Seal on wheels

-Zaino Z16 on tires (x 2)

-Zaino Z6 final wipedown

After compounding, I pulled her into the sun. Note the light hologramming, but swirls are removed

Cheers.

Beautiful Car. The last shot is sublime and I can't believe that car has 40k on it. AGGGHH THE WHEELS ARE SO CLEAN!

Beautiful wetness and glow. Excellent work, as usual. :)

How does EFHI compare to Hi-Temps Tire Cleaner as a wheel well and tire cleaner?

Great to see some C&B's again from you Sean!! Great pics, looks like the DSLR is treating you well. The red is dripping on my keyboard! lol

WOW, NICE WORK SEAN!!!:2thumbs: :wow: Getting low on P085RD? :nervous2:

You can work on my C2S anytime!!!:buffing: YOu may have to take it for the day...:p

Nice work on the interior. I see he did the painted center console, and Lloyds mats, very nice!!! Must be a CVR member (Connecticut Valley Region) of PCNA.

Once again, great work!!

Regards,

Deanski

Thanks all.

bigpoppa: Hi-Temp Tire Cleaner is definately stronger and cheaper, but EFHI is more versatile. At certain ratios, I feel safe using it on paint and interiors, Hi-Temp I do not. If it's not strong enough when I clean the tires, I just do them again.

Thomas: Rebel XTi with a Hoya polarizing filter.

Dino: Yes, getting low on PO85RD :).

The owner has an upcoming appointment with Farnbacher to lower it with H&R, set the wheels out a touch, sport exhaust, new badging, Alpine stereo, and a couple other gizmos...Should be nice when it's all complete. He's also sending it to DD to have the bumper and some other parts wrapped.

I believe he is a member of CVR, yes.

Sean,

I'm gonna have to get the P085RD to you one day that's for sure! We'll have to schedule a meeting one day.

FarnbacherLoles does some serious work on Porsche!! H&R's should be nice as well. But the best is the Bilstein PSS9's for PASM equipt cars. Now those are serious coil-over shocks that are adjustable and still keep the PASM active.

Car does look familure... I've been to several CVR events.

You really have to drive one of these... Serious fun, great noises and handles like no other car.

Glad to see you posting some work now and then.

See ya!

The clear spray bottle with the green liquid, where did you get it? The bottle looks similar to a set sold at Costco. I'm curious to know how the spray pattern is. I hate the spray partern of the sep bottles sold at Homedepot and the ones at costco look nice and easy to label. Also the Zep sprayers are huge so they don't always fit in my cabinet. Let me know. Thanks.

Great detail by the way. One day I'm just going to bash all your work just so you can have a little change, it must get annoying to always hear how great it is.

Dino: Agreed. We need to meet up :).

Andy: That's where it all pays off; thanks for the heads up. You must post pics of yours once done...if I remember correctly, it's the exact same thing in 2wd coupe, right?

joy: Home Depot. I like my Costco ones (not pictured) better. They are a little taller and thinner and have a better spray pattern. Durability is comparable with both.

I'm always up for criticism; it will only make me better.

Stilez, your detail of the black Corvette was the reason why I bought some PO85RD and ordered some white LCC pads. This post just proves that I should have bought it much earlier!
