2001 Plymoth Prowler, Paint correction and Opti-Guard application

RaskyR1

Rasky's Auto Detailing
Justin and I teamed up again last weekend on this Proweler, which belongs to a good client of mine. The paint condition was actually in very good shape overall, but it did had several moderate scratches scattered thorough out the finish where were deeper than what could be removed with a 1-step polish. At first we were just going to try and spot hit the deeper ones, but after washing and inspecting the finish more closely, it was clear that there was just too many and it made more sense to just go with a full 2-step correction. Total correction achieved from our process was about 90-95%.

Process:

Wash - Foamed with CGCW and OPC, rinsed, then washed with CGCW.

Wheels - CG Diablo Gel and various brushes, polished with Mothers mini power ball and Megs chrome polish

Tires - OPC, dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing

Suspension comp - OPC and various brushes

Clay - Blackfire clay and M34 as lube

Paint correction - D300/MF on the GG6 followed by PO85RD/Crimson LC on the Flex PE14 rotary

Glass - Megs D120

Exhaust tips - Megs Chrome polish

Coating Prep - Foamed with CGCW and OPC, rewashed with CGCW followed by Eraser wipe-down

Coating - Optimum Opti-Guard, applied to paint, trim, and wheels.

Looks good Chad! Airbrushing rims....huh, why not wipe it on?

I applied it to the barrels by hand, but I like using the airbrush for more intricate wheels. I also feel, in theory at least, that it leaved behind of thicker layer of product. ;)

This was a great car to work on. Good paint, the shapes of the panels are great to work on and having so much exposed stuff makes it really easy to get to the barrels of the wheels and get behind the fenders, etc. Loved it.

Nice work Chad. What did you use on the rear bumper? I did a Prowler last summer and polished with 205/white LC pad on a PC/speed 3 and it worked ok. The paint/plastic color came off on the pad and couldn't be cleaned so the pad was junk.

Glad the team thing is working out for you guys. I'd love to stop by sometime and check out the shop. Got any cool projects lined up?

Thanks again guys!

The rear bumper was a plastic/rubber material so we did not polish it. Just cleaned it and left it alone. ;)

Nothing special coming up as of right now...BMW's, Audi's...normal everyday cars. ;)
