Very nice job on the detail :xyxthumbs

Did you wait 24 hrs between the UPP and P21s?

Thats a pretty nice looking Focus (states). For some reason that one closely resembles the new Honda Accord coupes. I'm not sure if thats what the newer Focuses look like in the U.S., but yours is looking good :)

Car looks great.

For anyone who drops in: Not to hijack the thread, but I noticed the rear bumper is much less pronounced than one you would find on the Focus in the states. This is also true with the Mazda 6. Are there different regulations regarding crash tests in the UK than in the US?

To answer that question, yes, they are much less strict. Look at the US Evo and the JDM/UK Evo...they always have the better looking bumper while we always get the J-Lo treatment to fit another crash beam in there.

Cheers for the comments guys.

So is the UK Mondeo called the Focus in the States?

Are there many differences from our UK version?

No, it's not. Each previous poster who called it a Focus was mistaken. The Mondeo was sold as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique, for a while in the USA, but it was dropped quite a few years ago, and we haven't had anything in that size class in the USA for the last four years. That will be remedied in the fall with the introduction of the 2006 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.

The other people who called it a Focus mistook the styling of the front end for the current USA Ford Focus, which was your previous Ford Focus. Sorry JohnnyDaJackal & Company, but the European Ford Mondeo is several inches longer and wider than the USA Ford Focus, and are two completely different platforms.

USA Ford Focus - overall Length - 168.5 inches

overall width - 66.7 inches

Wheelbase - 102.9 inches

UK Ford Mondeo - overall Length - 186.26 inches

overall width - 71.34 inches

Wheelbase - 108.43 inches

Not even close.

So you put a wax over a sealant? Interesting. I didn't think that the 4*UPP would work well with P21S Carnauba.

Yup. The Mondeo platform is also used for the Jaguar X-Type, so that should give you a more real world impression of the size of the car.

I believe the current US Focus (built in Mexico?) is a simply a substantial facelift of the original design; the first gen. Foci look very similar on both sides of the pond. The second gen. now on sale in Europe is based on a new platform (also used for the Mazda 3 and Volvo S40) and so now the models are quite different.

Anyway, nice job Charlie :bigups

Oh, now i get it. UPP is 4stars sealant? Right? I've got the 4star clay and QD and like them, obviously the sealant is worth a try too, looking at the great shine on your Mondeo :bigups

Seems to have worked for me going by the finish and slickness - time will tell I suppose...

yea I wasn't sure if the wax would bond to the sealant. I never even though of trying that. It was usually one or the other. hmmmm
