2001 civic ex badly swirled-Before and After Pictures

I just bought a 2001 honda civic ex , it's Nighthawk black pearl, with 26,000 miles on it. The paint was badly swirled.

I haven't been an Autopian for that long, but I think my results were pretty good. I only had time to do the hood, but it took me like 2 hrs. but i was just taking my time. I plan to do the rest when I have another good day. I did this in the sun, Should I do this in the shade?

My process was : 1zpp/ sonus DAS orange pad x2

1zpp/sonus DAS green pad x2

Sonus PWC/ Blue DAS pad x1

NXT Tech Wax

I plan on buying VM/EX/Carnauba moose here soon, because a lot of people on here use that on black. Are the sealants, glazes and waxes best done by hand or PC?

I did the NXT by PC on about 3.

There are still some swirls left on the hood, Ill go back over it with 1zpp/green pad probably 1 or 2 more times.

I should have done 1zup/orange pad first, then switched to the 1zpp/orange pad.

Finally got it the right size.

The swirls were actually a lot worse than they looked. Also, it needed to be clayed, but I didn't have any :( And I live 1 hr away from anywhere that does.

On the before pic, the little sparkles in the paint looked horrible surrounded around all them swirls.

Overall I think I did a good job, but still need lots of practice.

And I like the NXT wax, it's a great off the shelf product, but I think im ready to try something else.

Like I said, im going to buy VM/EX/Carnauba Moose. Will that bring out the little sparkles in my Paint? I want something that will make me go :shocked

Ill post picts later, but the clear plastice cover that goes over your gauges (tachometer, speedometer, etc.) has a big scratch going across it. Ill post pics later, but is there anything I can do for that?

Very big difference. Looks great.

In the future, instead of attaching the images, try uploading them to a photo host like the one I mentioned above. This will allow you to post bigger pics.

You also might want to try a compression program like the image optimizer at www.xat.com because those two pics you attached should be 35k instead of 290k. Those of us on dial up would really appreciate it. ;)

Looks to be a huge improvement! :up

A problem that I had when I was polishing, was streaks. I coulnd't get all the product off, I guess that's what it's from.

Would some detailing spray get this off? if so, what's some good off the shelf spray?

Also after i waxed with NXT, there was some streaks, but this is probably from me doing it in the sun. Would detail Spray get this off as well, or do I have to give the wax time to cure?

A quick detail product should remove streaks. The best way to prevent streaks with NXT is to apply very thin layers and let it dry at least 15 minutes before removing.
