2001 BMW 740i in black

Detailed this 2001 740i yesterday.



I started off on the hood with the PC, #83 and a cutting pad - it barely made a dent in the swirls. So it was out with the PC and in with the Hitachi.



Process was...



OP yellow edge pad @ 1500 - couple passes in certain areas

OP blue edge pad @ 1100

Souveran



Some befores...

Doesn't look so bad until it's been washed and some light is put on it...

Here's after the first pass of OP at 1500rpm with the yellow edge pad. Still a bit of swirlling and hazing left, but the finish pass improved it more. No sun shots after the finish pass as the sun had moved on. Probably got it about 90% swirl free. I just didn't have the time to get it as perfect as I would've liked.

Polished...

And the trunk after some Souveran..

And that's all! It was completely dark by the time the car was done. I think the progress shots get across just what an improvement the OP did. The Souveran was just icing on the cake.

Cracking work there, a huge improvement to the finish - noticeable not only in the close up shots with the sun, but in the full car shots as well - the car has a lovely deep glossy shine in the afters. Good defect correction achieved, I'd be proud of that one. :up

I actually started with the PC. I did a couple of passes using Meg's 83 with a yellow propel pad on a portion of the hood. There was improvement, but due to the amount of swirls, there were still many left even after the two passes. It just would've taken me too long to get rid of them using the PC.

That is a huge improvement for not getting particularly aggressive.



The paint looks incredibly deep in the after pics.
