Ladies and Gents, here I am again with another detail. This time the patient is a 2001 (I think) BMW 330xi sedan in black. The owner lives down the street from me. I detailed this car last year. Since then he said he washes it about once a month (if that) at auto washes. When he brought it to me I knew from last year it was gonna take me a while to get this puppy back to shape. Sun was playing hide and seek all day, so before and after aren’t the greatest. Didn’t get as many “after pics due to the owners’ time constraints. The clear was extremely soft for whatever reason. I haven’t done many Beamers so maybe its normal. Basically ANY PAD/POLISH left or wouldn’t take out the Micro marring!! After NUMEROUS different combos with the PC, I finished the whole vehicle with rotary only.

On to the process:

Wash-- Meg’s Gold Class

Clay-- Zaino Clay

Polishedâ€â€EC/OP  First time with the combo…LOVE IT! Via Rotary at 1500rpms and LC orange cut pad.

Polished – OHC via PC and cut pad.

Polished – Used VARIOUS combo of pads and polishes via PC to remove haze/miro marring from OHC with VERY dismal results, so finished the vehicle off with FPII via Rotary at 900-1000 rpms with polish pad. FPII and the rotary left the finish CRYSTAL CLEAR!

LSP-- My HYRBRID creation, I don’t know if anyone has already tried this or not, I mixed RMG and IW845 in a small bottle couple of days ago and applied that to the finish and even trim. All I Have to say is W-O-W. Very WET combo. Will have to see about durability. I would imagine at least 3 months on garaged vehicle.

Wheels--- Wheel Brightner 1:1 x2 with #000 steel wool.

Window---Stoner IG

Inside (forgot to take pics…doh!)

Leather, dash, all vinyl cleaned with woolite mix 2:1. Vacuumed. Etc.

Total Detail from start to finish: 8 hours!

Nice job...it's odd that the paint was soft. Make sure you keep us updated on the RMG 845 mix

Since he lives down the street it will be a lot easier to monitor it per say. That's why I tried the combo mainly. I was pleasantly surprised with the wetness and clarity!

Wow! That does look very wet!

Interesting process to deal with hazing. I find black Cayennes and G35s to be like that as well. 106/RMG or Meguiars #80 seems to work best on soft black paints.

Those wheels-great job cleaning them! I still haven't figured out BMW's and Mercedes' obsession with eleventy billion spoke wheels and brakes that pump out 10 pounds of dust with every stop.

Yea the micomaring/hazing had me stumped. After OHC and Cut pad via PC there was a tone. I thought OP with polish pad would work..nope. Tried OC via polish pad...nope, tried FPII with polish pad...nope, tried OP with finish pad nope....and i think a few other combos that didnt work. At that point i was read to call it quits then decided to go back to the rotary and used FPII on polish pad at 1000rpms and everything CLEARED up real nice! For some reason the clear did not like the PC at ALL!

Yea the wheels were a major PITA. The last year when I got them clean said he thought they were gunmetal by nature!! He had bought the car used and I guess they werent clean then either.

Sweet job! I hear ya on the BMW clear, my mom has one and even the softest MF will mar it, yet not too easy to correct. Looks very clear and wet. Keep us updated on the RMG/845 combo.

That is amazing! I had the same trouble you did w/ clearing up the micro marring on the last BMW I did... guess it's time to invest in a rotary!

Well glad to hear Im not the only one having some troubles with the BMW clear...I guess it doenst help the finish is black. Maybe a silver BMW the Micro Marring wont show as much?

After that experiance I did wish it was silver. Thankfully the owner didn't mind it since he was more so concerned w/ the more obvious swirling. And in any case, he's putting it through the same abuse as before

Wow, thats outstanding job :) I hate clean those spoke rims :( What brush you use to get between the spokes?

Yeah, let us know hows RMG w/845 holding out.

Actually I did everything by hand. I did wear gloves. The #000 steel wool comes in 4x4 inches. So it wrapped around the spoked very well. I couldnt get the inside wheel becuase of the size of the rotors.
