2000 Mazda Protege- Tryout all my new products!

With money to burn from my tax refund, I ordered a few new products from Danase and Excel Detail. Excellent service from both! :thx

I decided to strip down my Protege which I was perfectly happy with and try some of them out.

Washed with Optimum No Rinse (loved it)

Stripped old wax with AIO using LC Green (dual purpose) pad at 4. (Not new product)

Glazed with Clearkote Red Moose Machine Glaze using Propel 2 blue pad at 5. (Loved it)

UPP x 2 applied by hand with 1 week between applications due to weather (high winds). (Looked great)

Natty's Blue applied by hand 24 hours after last coat of UPP.

Used Optimum Car wax to remove Natty's Blue residue (picked up from Scottwax)

I apologize in advance for the pictures, still using 2 Megapixel Kodak.

Have a great weekend! :)

Very nice! Cant wait to get my hands on Optimum No Rinse - What's your mini-review on it? Is it as easy as everyone says?

Silver is a hard color to work with, your choices were good, love the look

What all that green stuff on the ground? Some kind of short vegetation... ;)

Looks terrific Gordon. I think the paint (particularly in the first shot) looks darker then with your previous combos, which IMO is good.

That flake is hard to capture isn't it? I know what it really looks like though, and I think I'll go out to the garage to look right now! :D (I have UPPx2/Nattys on mine)

Joshua312,

I bought a gallon of it, I really hoped it would be good! I found it to be a little strange at first. I had never used QEW and was unfamiliar with no rinse products. I used the recommended 1oz (2 Tablespoons) per 2 gallons and it produces no suds to speak of. However it is super easy to use, and much easier to wipe off than traditional hose washing. On my wife's minivan it is a godsend. I use a microfiber towel to apply and the two bucket method. It really cruds up the microfiber towel, but I got good release of the dirt using the rinse bucket. I do not think I will go back to a traditional hose wash.

Paul,

The paint is darker with this combo. Most of the darkening occured when I applied the Natty's. This is my favorite combo so far. My plan is to keep her up with weekly Optimum No Rinse washs and use OCW in lieu of a QD. I love using these acronyms, makes me feel like I'm back in the Army.

The green stuff we call frickin weeds. Our bermuda and centipede lawns will not green up much to probably mid April. We already have dandelion blooms and crabgrass. Not too long until the Azaleas and Dogwoods bloom. They make living here all worth while with their incredible beauty.

You know I will probably strip her down again in a couple of weeks. It is a disease.

:LOLOL

Paul,

Think I'm going to save up for a used Honda S2000 before I get too old to get in and out of it. I think your idea is great though.
