2000 E320 Correction

Auto Detail & Restoration
This car was a referral although I enjoy the collections this is what I usually get as someones last resort.

This car was painted a few years back. The car was wooled and glazed at the body shop. Not all the sanding was even removed. There is paint on trim and rubber. One year the airport was nice enough to clean the snow off with an ice scraper and push broom(seriously)!

Wherever he has taken it has just polished and sealed it leaving all of this. He is just expecting it shiny again. This is something that bothers me; when peoples expectations get lowered by assuming its as good as it gets because of how long it has been this way.

I made the decision to not do this to him. The correction is all on me. He doesn't know what I am about to do. I just can't hand this back to him "shiny". This may sound crazy but I have customers who go no-where else because of this. I may not charge the first time for this but once they understand the actual time and the turn around they are life-long. The end result is after this time there are no quotes or estimates they know what they are going to get and the price is what it is and they are always happy. He is only being charged a detail.

BEFORE All PANELS ARE THE SAME CONDITION THIS PAINT IS A HIGH SOLID CLEAR.

I used an ADT 10511 rotary. My Dewalt has died :( which I would have preferred.
Sorry about the layout guys. I kept getting bumped due to a phone line issue while posting this. It was my third and final attempt.

Good work. Im running an ATD now as well. At first I hated that machine so much, but I switched to my 6 in backing plate and its like a differant machine now. It made it alot easier to control. I also got a pair of foam bicycle grips and put one on the side handle to keep from getting blisters lol.

Thanks for the compliments.
Mrclean, I think I'll look into your upgrades. Suffering the blisters myself. The weight helped on the roof but gets nerve racking going around antenna bases and door handles.

Balancing on a step ladder with this machine gets to be like a rodeo compounding with a foam pad. Lol

I'd love to get the new Flex rotary but
with the dead 849 & PC getting tired I need to look into replacing both. Luckily I had this for a backup.

If your like me and use a rotary for compounding and a DA for polishing and finishing, maybee look at the Griots polisher. Ive got the 6in and 3in models and love them both. The 6in is very powerful for a ROP and even a few bucks cheaper than the PC and WAY cheaper than a Flex. Another upside to using a 6in plate on the rotary is you can share pads with your DA too. Im a DeWalt fan myself but after my 849 was stolen I just havent brought myself to throw down the money for a new one yet. Ive had my eye on the new 3M rotary lately too but Ive gotta go though the wife first or else it will be more of this

I can post more on process and pics. What do you want to see?

Interior shots, pics of the entire car etc, anything you would like to post. thx

I'm just trying to get back into detailing, so I really like to see others work and process used.

The car is with me for 2 weeks while the owner is on vacation. I've been on and off it but I will get it wraped up this week. I'll get before and afters up related to the rest.
