polishing your car and a couple of your friends certinaly doesn't qualify anybody as a guru.

Its funny how my opinion on a lot of DIYers opinions changed when I started polishing 1-2 cars on a daily basis, as opposed to one car a week or less...

Less chance you will burn your paint with wool, but usually have to finish with a pad. Wool was designed before clear coats, they are better for SS paint.

So, the general consensus is that wool is only for heavy duty cutting period. Just curious to know how much things have changed was all. The foam does me fine, I was just getting bored and wanting to experiment with something new. After all, if I wasn't the experimenting type I would have never made the leap from my PC to a rotary.

wool for cutting and faster clean up, but foam for finishing...

my routine is typically LC foamed wool with correct polish, the FPII with a PC and white pad, then poliseal, or straight to wax depending on paint type...

IMO, wool is much easier to control on a rotary as well!
