(2) Older Roadsters...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
I took on (2) "projects" on Wednesday this week. A 1974 MG Midget and a 1993 Alpha Romeo Spider Veloce. Both were in need on a heavy cut to remove oxidation and some pinstripe residue. The MG particularly needed a light wet-sanding with 2000 grit to remove some heavy peel.

The Spider Veloce was an outstanding car, but looked as if the previous owner washed her regularly with 00 steel wool !!!

The Spider was cut with Hi-Temps Heavy Cut Leveler and a yellow a Schlengel PC 975 wool pad. That was followed with Meguiars DACP and a green Edge Pad at @ 1500 RPM's. Then I finished her with Meguiars SFP and a blue Edge pad. I waxed her by PC with Ibiz Paste Wax.

Next up was the 1974 MG... She was a bit more work and required a light wet-sanding before repeting the sme process used on the Alpha Romeo...

I really like the cutting ability of Hi-Temps Heavy Cut Leveler and helped bring these cars back to a condition that should now be maintained (hopefully).

Nice job Dean! Looks great. You could really tell the difference in the before/after pic. of the hood on the MG. Looks great!

I've never seen paint look so dead as in that before pic on the MG. Great work bringing that back to life. I love the way well prepped dark single stage paint looks, so deep and rich.

Great Job Dean!! That first one looked hidous with all that marring.. but not for long!

Hi-Temp products are from Top of the Line. I bought a few gallons of their products off eBay about 6 month ago and this product ROCKS !!! It cuts faster than Meguiars Diamond Cut (IMO), and really leaves the finish ready for a final polishing. I have used this product to remove 1200 grit sanding scratches also.

Complete Int/Ext and Engine. I started at 7:30 AM and finished up at about 6:30 PM. The interior on the Alpha Romeo was a breeze, and the MG was Vinyl so it was not all that difficult either. Both engine bays were relatively clean. I am on my own for the next week, and I cannot wait for my assistant to return !!!

What did you do to the trim, it looks great!

The trim was cleaned with a diluted APC and then dressed heavily with a solvent based dressing in the AM. I let the dressing dwell all day, and wiped down in the early evening.

Hey Dean, the cars look great. I think the Alpha is the same one that I was looking at on Ebay. Nice work on both of them.
