2 Bucket method vs. Rinsing out

I know many of you use the two bucket method when washing your car but how about just rinsing your mitt off with the water hose before resubmersing it in your wash bucket?

Does anybody see anything wrong with this method, besides the obvious risk of the water pressure knocking it out of your hand?

I often (OK, usually) do that before I stick it in my rinse bucket. I think you have a better chance of getting ALL of what may be in your mitt out if you submerge it in a rinse bucket, but YMMV.

I think it would take longer than doing a double dip. Also, you may "blast" dirt particles into the mitt and then they might come out as you're washing the car. If you're going to use a hose, I'd put the hose on the inside and flush the water through.

I actually stopped using the two bucket method a while ago and started using the method you describe. I find I can get the mitt cleaner this way than by dunking it a clean bucket of water.

With the two bucket technique, even the clean bucket will get dirty as you go along, especially if your car is dirty.

Great minds think alike! ;) I do the same, specially for dirty panels.

I still use the buckets for rinse water even with the foam gun I have two set ups like this on both sides of the car: one 5 gallon bucket with many holes drilled into the bottom placed inside another solid bucket. The holes help pull any contamination to the bottom of the other bucket. I bet this would be an outstanding combination with a Grit Guard. I use white buckets only to see any contamination and i still thourghly hose down the mitts before they reach the rinse water in the buckets. This regimen sure seems close to being sterile :D
