I use poorboys world WW for drying, works awesome.



Took the girlfriends car snowboarding yesterday so it got an ONR wash today. I encountered more leaves etc on the lower panels than usual and missed them during my prerinse with a pesticide sprayer. I guess we're always improving on technique.... I think I'm getting overly confident as I'm less apprehensive about the wash and just going for it under any and all conditions, same with applying aquawax...I just mist it everywhere and go crazy with a MF....need to slow my roll :)



I've also been saving the ONR solution in my wash bucket for the next car washing and using it on the wheels as Scott mentioned above.

I can't see misting on conventional wheel cleaner as it's got to be rinsed thoroughly.

I don't use wheel cleaners at all. Just ONR in a bucket and a plethora of brushes. You'd be amazed how brake dust literally melts away when you go over the wheels with ONR.

I meant to order some ONR, I finally got around to it last night.
 
OK i just used it again on my Protege5 and it SCRATCHED my hood!!!!ive been doing a 3 day detail on her.Wed i washed and put a coat of #21 on then Thur i put another coat of #21 on and this morning(Fri)i went out to finish and found a cat had been on the hood.so i figured i would give another go w/the ONR.there were footprints so i didnt want to QD it.anyway as i was washing the hood(w/sheepskin and 2x the ONR ratio)and as i went over the footprint with light pressure and dried i noticed the scratches from the footprints and they were NOT there before i started,i checked.needless to say i will never use this stuff again.Ill go as far as to say this stuff sucks.i might as well just be washing with plain water(please dont throw me to the wolfs:tumblewee )



on a better note i did finish up with 2 applications of OCW and it looks awsome.if the sun comes out later ill post pics in the click & brag sect.

When I re-read your original post, it looked like you weren't pouring enough ONR into your wash bucket (remember each capful is only 0.5 ounces).



I'm a little shocked by your latest post. I'm a newbie to ONR and can't find anything bad to say about the results. I was really worried that ONR would scratch my new charcoal colored car with ONR. However, the results are surprisingly scratch free!



I also have to confess that I actually LIKE washing the conventional way and have incorporated ONR into my conventional wash bucket to prevent scratches. I live in CA near the coast, so our weather is always mild. I also use ONR as a QD.



Perhaps you can use ONR as your QD or sell it to another member. Just my 2 cents.
 
socommatthews, don't take it as an insult, but you have to look twice before you form an opinion on the product - especially when you talk about footprints. I know what I'm saying, because at times we had 27 cats and their footprints ALWAYS leave scratches - no matter how clean the car is. The dirt which sticks to their paws leaves *nice* scratches when it's clean because they just slide on the slick surface, and it understandably will leave scratches when the car is dirtier. Properly applied ONR will NOT scratch the car. Obviously, you have to find the limits of the product, and don't use it on heavily soiled areas. When the dirt is stubborn, adjust the dosage accordingly.
 
so an animal with nails stepped on your hood with dirt on its feet and you think a lubricated sheepskin mitt did the scratching?



I'll buy the ONR from you so you dont ever have to go through the pain of it again. PM me.

I highly doubt ONR itself scratched your hood. Either you didn't notice the scuffing that is caused by the cat's pads sliding on the hood before you washed it, or you used too much pressure with the towel. Even the softest of towels with scratch paint with enough pressure-don't ask me how I know. :wall
 
eh...I use ONR all the time with the rough winters up here in Michigan. Always does a nice job of cleaning, even on the wheels. I just do a couple splashes of ONR into a bucket of hot water. Have never measured or anything. It has greatly reduced my wash induced marring. I place a bucket on each side of the car and use 4 grout sponges or 4 plush towels, whatever Im in the mood for and let the water run down the car to wash away as much as possible, then go over the area with the sponge or towel.
 
maybe i was unclear,sorry.the ONR itself didnt scratch the car and the cat,who is declawed BTW,didnt scratch it either.i did it in two diffrent spots and the scratches are 3"-4" in length so it happened when i wiped.im so used to being able to spray that dirt off before i wash it and that not happen,thats all.nothing towards ONR itself,just rinseless washes in general.Since DieselMDX had intrest in it first,ill PM him and iff not ill put it in the for sale section.
 
Turn the cat into a wash mitt that should solve the problem. I am on my 5th gallon of rinseless wash product and haven't noticed any problems. Using the products takes some getting used to. I still don't use them on all of my customers cars. Largely because it was taking me longer. I'm getting faster at it though so the tide is now starting to turn. Thursday I did 7 cars with it and had no problems.
 
well its not my cat,i dont like cats(except for the one in my avitar),it belongs to the people next door.they usually keep it inside at night but sometimes it stays out.
 
I have to say, I tried it for the first time today after work, and I was very impressed.



did both our vehicles in less than an hour and perfect results IMO. I can see myself never using the hose again. :xyxthumbs

i thought that at first but if you read all the post i did it in a second spot just to be sure.i watched the dirt scratch the paint as i wiped over it with my mitt and the scratches were NOT there before i started.im not that new to detailing so i know what a scratch looks like.im just not confident in the stuff and i wont use a rinseless wash again.you guys seem like your mad or something that i dont like it. not everyone likes every car care product.im still allowed not to like particular things right?

No one is saying you have to use a rinseless wash if you don't want but I don't remember anyone else who's had your particular problem. :nixweiss
 
I think that you have to eliminate the possible trouble points - and the possibility of a classic user error.



Learn how to "master" the stuff and its "challenge".
 
Why not try another wash medium? I find ONR/QEW works the best with a pretreat and 1oz/gallon. Try that with a MF-encased sponge and try use the nap of the MF to gently brush away the dirt. Yes, you may have to go over a panel twice, but you can hold more wash solution with a sponge than a mitt. I've even added QD to the mix, just to get a little more lubricity out of ONR.



IME, there are limits to how well ONR/QEW can clean, especially when there is a nasty film of dirt/debris and the vehicle hasn't been waxed/sealed recently.
