I just received my Z2-Pro on Monday and I needed a test mule for durability of shine and slickness. One of my roommates has a 1999 Mazda that has seen many UVA-Boston trips. She said it has never been washed and I'm not a skeptic. This was a freebie for grins and giggles, so I didn't do much paint correction other than the oxidation removal and therefore don't have any closeups of the paint. I was primarily getting rid of the tremendous oxidation (AIO met its match, for once) and applying Z2-Pro. There is little fear of her getting it washed when I'm not watching, so I will use this as a control vehicle.
Rocker Panels with APC+ (1:12) x 2.
Wash x 2 w/ 2/3 NXT and 1/3 Sonus.
Clay with Mother's and new wash water.
Polish with AIO/cutting pad/PC on 3-5.
Polish with AIO/cutting pad/PC on 3-5.
Polish with AIO/polishing pad/PC on 3.
Z2-Pro w/ ZFX.
Z-6.
Z2-Pro w/ ZFX.
Tires with A2Z and agitation-->BnB.
Wheels with A2Z.
Wheel covers in a tub with Oxyclean soaking for 2 hours.
The front wheels and rocker panels are in the shade, but they weren't much lighter in direct sunlight. The rocker panel filth was seemingly baked/painted on. (11:00 am)
Here's a close-up of what the hood, roof, and trunk looked like:
Post-wash and clay; the front wheel covers are still soaking. Notice the total lack of gloss in the paint. I was amazed it took so long to remove the oxidation but my time was a sunk cost. It became a battle that I wanted to win using only AIO. (1:00 pm)
Don't jump on me for the glory shot or taking it from the opposite side--the clock wasn't cooperating and I was tired. Z2-Pro brought out a wetter look than I was used to from any Zaino products, and it was indeed easier to apply and remove than Z2 or Z5. (4:45 pm)
With my bad photography skills, it's a leap of faith. Have a safe and happy Super Bowl weekend. I'll stay neutral on my hopes.
