1999 Audi A8 - 3 Hour Time Limit

Hey guys. Woke up early this morning and started a 20 mile hike to the other side of Raleigh with my partner/helper/coworker Jacob. It was right in the middle of rush hour here in RTP, which made us a little late, even leaving 30 minutes early. Up for correction was a 2001 Audi A8. The owner told us we had 3 hours to do a complete exterior, and bring the car up to par for what he wanted to spend...no problem :2thumbs:



Only was able to take 7 pictures total and these are the ones that turned out decent. Comments and criticism as always :up



Exterior:

1. Presoak using ONR and spray bottle

2. ONR wash using 2 bucket method

3. Clay using Sonus green

4. ONR again

5. Clay using Sonus green - and Prima "Slick" detail spray

6. Waffle Weave towel to dry exterior

7. Menzerna SIP @1800 rpm using LC twisted wool pad

8. Menzerna 106ff @1500 rpm using LC white pad

9. Clearkote Carnuba Moose Wax via PC speed 5

10. Glass using Stoners Invisible Glass

11. Tires using Stoners More Shine



Interior not touched at this time.

Very nice work, especially considering the time limit.



What is up with the Hungarian plates though?
 
How do you like using SIP with the wool pad? I would like to try it with wool but I have heard mixed reviews.
 
Where on Creedmoore road was that. Old gf lived on that road, seen it many times. Detail turned out amazing as always.



on a side note, have you heard anything back from the guy that posted he needed a wake forest detailer?

Exactly, right at the Office Park near Outback and the Harris Teeter shopping center.

It cut fast. I tried HTEC/OP with an orange pad, SIP with an orange pad, and it seemed to work best with wool/SIP...



Tried to find the right combination for this paint and MOVE along :nono
 
I have never seen a correction done that fast? How did you do that? Did you have multiple people correcting.



I don't see how you can wash, clay, wash, clay and then polish it out two times with a rotary in 3 hours and actually get the polishes to break down.:hm



So where are the close up after pics of the swirls removed??



Sorry, but that's just not believable.

Curious as to why you washed clayed, then washed, and clayed again?

75-80% of the swirls were removed. I was working on half of the car, while Jacob worked on the other side. It can be done, I do not like to do it this fast because it is impossible to make it 99% correct when working so fast.



For the time we were allowed, it was a drastic improvement.
 
MartinD- Great work, incredible even, for the time involved even with two people (I have pretty extensive experience with the D2 series Audis). Heh heh, I'd still be getting *started* after 3 hours :D



I gotta get some wool pads...yeah, HT EC/orange takes a long, long time to correct Audi clear, sounds like you found a much better combo.



What did you use on the black plastic "B" pillars?



Heh heh, hope you taped off the clear-anodized aluminum trim...doesn't take much contact with abrasives to damage that stuff. If you didn't tape it, just do it next time and keep your fingers crossed...hey, it messes up sooner or later even if you *do* pamper it. Gee, guess how I know :o
