1997 Porsche 993 C2 Guards Red

That is my favorite style Porsche. I would love to own a 993 some day, preferably a Turbo.

Great job Bryan. That Leatherique works wonders doesn't it?

Paint looks awesome too. Nothing like Z5p on red.

any close ups of the leather seats to compare with the befores?

very very nice BTW.

Bryan - I too wouldnt mind seeing some close ups of the leather.

Was there a noticeable difference with the leather when using leatherique??? Im thinking about getting some for my seats which looked somewhat cracked like in the porsche. I wonder if it is the best way to go before sanding and dying.

Thanks

Thanks Z06! I like Leatherique, IMO you need a day for the car to sit outside in the heat when the seats are like this. I think the creases would of had more of a reduction. The seats still come out very soft.

T, I highly recommend letting your car sit out in the hot sun for at least one day w/ Leatherique on the seats. If you can monitor the seats during the day, reapply RO when it appears to have absorbed into the leather.

Thanks S500! Hard to argue with a GT3 RS.

Hello,

Super job. Very interesting to view this as i am working on my guards red 2003

boxster S at the moment.

I just bought the car, and it has a lot of marring and some scratches too. I live in Belgium, and regarding car detailling we are in the middle ages, most of the products aren't available. I can get my hands on 3M and megiuar's so i'm using these.

I saw the pictures where you wetsanded a part. I already used that technique in my blue (solid paint, no cc) mercedes 300SL. I thought that you couldn't do that on clearcoat paint because you would sand down the cc. (an then i guess you're in big trouble...).

Is the clearcoat on a Porsche always that thick? So can I sand down scratches with 2000 on my boxster too do you think?

Thx,

Jan

Thank Jan! Yes wetsanding will reduce the thickness of the clearcoat, but so will extreme compounding/polishing. This car was a repaint.

Great Job. It's hard to believe it has only 30K on the clock. It definitely looked neglected in the befores.

Thanks Lambo! I guess it depends more on how the car was maintained then the miles.

Fantastic job and just a sweet ride.

993 is the best Porsche ever IMO.

Curious if you have any of the exterior pictures in larger format 1280 x 1024? Can't find any good 993s pictures on the web, would love to make that my desktop.

Hi,

You're right, doesn't make a differense how you take of the clearcoat...

Can i ask one more question? What do you think about using clearcoat to fill up the deeper scratches before wetsanding? That way you don't have to take of too much cc. on very deep scratches (the ones you can feel with a fingernail).

Do you have experience with this procedure?
