well this is my first pic post and its of my car. it still needs a lot of work but until i get a PC with some #83 or IP, the swirls will still be there. i was thinking about using PIIRC but didn't want to be too aggressive with it so i tried some 3MFIMP. it was ok, took some swirls out considering that i used some kinda rotary buffer with the application sponge that came with it. its been lying in the garge for god knows how long. so would the 3MFIMP work better with the PC and a light cutting pad? like the one provided with the sonus DAS pad kit? or should i get some #83 later on? please provide suggestion as to: a) if i m on the right track, b) get the PC and #83/IP, or c) i have no idea what i am talking about. please take it easy on me as i am still trying to learn.

well here are the pics. heres what i did:

mother's wash

3MFIMP

Mother's Sealer Glaze

Mother's Carnuba Wax

i will be using the mother's until i run out but can someone suggest what i should replace the mother's with later on?

Why switch from mothers? I think your car looks great. You know the old adage if it aint broke... I think that applies here. nice looking reflections especially for white.

hmmm, i'm not sure about what would be a good polish. :o but you forgot to clay! :D nah, it's good to do the first time. well, next time you're gonna do a full detail (polish and waxing) do the baggie test. put your hand in a zip-loc bag and run it over the surface. if it ain't smooth, you'll need to clay. ;)

and suggesting another replacement wax is like asking what car to replace your eclipse. :p i guess it would depend on what you are looking for. there are a lot of good products out there, so pretty much anything would work.

but your eclipse looks nice. great job. :xyxthumbs

If I could make a suggestion as to product's you used on this detail. I would say ditch the Mother's stuff, and being you have a light colored car you may want to stay away from Carnauba product's. I would rec. DACP if it is needed, I recently purchased some and was very pleased with the results, I got more swirls out in 5 minutes than I did in twice the time with any other product. I would say you should look into the Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze (VM) after the DACP then top it with Poorboy's EX-P!:D If you are like me and like the Carnauba product's, I would top it with the Poorboy's Natty's wax. What I would rec. is going to Specialty Motoring and getting the 1-2 punch, and get EX-P as the topper. That kit is an awesome kit, the VM is an easy to use product and leaves an awesome finish. The EX-P is a super clear sealant, it is amazing to use and gives a great clear shine, perfect for silver and white cars!! Here some pics of my Girl's beige s-10, another light color that shines like you wouldn't beleive!! Here are my rec's:

Get a PC!!!!!!!!!!!

Wash (NXT)

Clay (Mother's)

DACP

VM

EX-P x2

You car looks AWESOME...great job!! :bigups

thanks for the compliment guys. so would the 3MFIMP work better with a PC for taking out swirls? as for sticking with mother's, i would like to because i have no complaints about it but like you guys, i would like to experiment. that being the case, thanks for the product ideas 04Cobra.

oh if you are just looking to experiment with new products I would reccommend going to the Autopia store, topoftheline.com, detailersparadise, poorboysworld.com, autogeek.net and bust out the credit card! :D Actualy if you really want to get some really good products from one place I would say to either go with poorboys products, or with the 1z line both are great and will give you good results with a PC. These are just my personal preferances. From these two lines I wold pick out SSR3, 2.5, 2, 1, ex-p, pro polish w/ wax.

from 1z I would get Upp, PP, MP, Glanz wax.

I dont have much experience with 3m polishes so Im not really qualified to give you an answer, sorry. Hope this helps.
