1997 Ford Falcon GT

Final Touch

NZers usually don't support Aussies in anything, it would be quite wrong not to keep a frienly rivalry going except when it's ANZAC Day which is tomorrow -Lest We Forget.

However the Australians do make some pretty awesome cars and they're not bad people really :p

The 1997 Ford Falcon GT is one of the most in demand collectors cars in Australia/NZ and this is #5 of only 20 of it's type in NZ. It's also quite probably the tidiest.

My little brother had polished it last about 5 years ago and he'd done a nice job but the owner is thinking of moving a couple of cars on to make way for other classic car projects so it was time for another good going over.

From a distance it looked pretty good still but once you got up close it had all the typical accumulated damage.

Quick summary of process.

Scratch removal with M105 (W7000 Pad)

Polish with M205 (W8000 Pad and Rotary)

2nd Polish with M205 (W8006 and orbital)

Synthetic Sealant with W9006

High Tech with a G-mop finishing pad.

Finished Car, Customer pretty excited to be fair. (Apologies for lack of outdoor sunshine photos - there is a pretty good chance that the guy might get his other 3 GT's detailed and get a professional shoot done before sale, hope it comes together)

Compulsory engine shot, it didn't need detailing, this is a well looked after car. Aussie Muscle.

Another Falcon GT, This time a 1992 Anniversary edition. I think there were 15 of them for sale in NZ in total.

I won't bore you with the correction details except to say there was wetsanding in a few spots, lots of polishing and we did the stonechip ed paint repairs as well. The owner was very stoked with the result and said that we'd exceeded his expectations which was the best part of the whole job.
