1997 GP -120K on the clock.

This is a neighbor’s car (daily driver) and it sits outside 24 x 7.
It sees a dealership tunnel wash & dirty shop towels once a week.

Here's a before shot:

I was asked to wash/polish/protect the paint.

Wash:
-Bubble Bath / Foam Gun
-Amazing Roll off & brushes on the wells
-TOL Tire Cleaner & wheel brush
-Meg’s WB on the rims & wheel brush
-Zaino Clay on a few spots.

The paint was swirl city & there were about a dozen RIDS. I leveled the RIDS, but did not remove them. The swirls are history.

Polishing Tools & products:

Compound --Cyclo & LC orange med-cut pads (3 sets):

I used the ‘Sean Busch’ Extreme Cut/Optimum 50/50 mix.
This stuff makes short work of swirls. It’s virtually dust free and doesn’t ‘gum’ up the pads like most compounds.

Polish: Cyclo & LC white polish pads (2 sets). BF Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish

I tossed the BF cap, and replaced it with one from PB’s (MUCH Better!)

Protect:

Z6 Wipe Down
Z5 Pro (zfx’d) x 1 applied via PC & finishing pad on all exterior surfaces. I let the ‘base' coat dry for 30 minutes, while I cleaned out the jams, vac’d & dressed the tires & wells. The wells were done with CG’s VRT cut 1:1. I applied a second coat of Z5Pro right on top of the dried ‘base’ coat. I felt like experimenting a littleJ.
Final Wipe down & touch up’s with Z6.

This evening I plan to apply another coat of Z5Pro and attack the interior.

Here are a few after shots in between on/off rain showers.

(The driver side lens cover is toast. The seals are cracked and it has about 2 years worth of condensation build up)

LOVE IT!

The compound mix is the best I agree. I started using the mix back in March (but with hyper compound, now only opt polish) and really havnt used anything since. The z5pro looks awesome on the car. Looking forward to using mine!

beautiful results Mgm. My next order is gonna be some extreme cut as well. I'm floored by the results of the BF polish. can i ask you if there was a noticable difference useng the extreme cut/OPT polish before the BF..

Nice Job!!!! How do you guys get these results???? I did the following on my wifes black escape and still has spider webs when the sun hits it just right.

Wash
Clay bar
WG swirl remover with Orange pad (4500) (Porter Cable)
WG finishing glaze with white pad (4000) (Porter Cable)
WG sealant x2 by hand
WG sealant x1 (12 hrs later) by hand
I think it looks good with great depth, but nothing compared to what you guys can do! Could I be going to fast or should I use the swirl remover with a white pad before the finishing glaze? Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks,

Thanks guys!

Greg: I've had hit and miss luck with Optimum Compounds, but the polish works consistently for me time after time.

Sean: The owner just came down to look at it and took the Lords name in vain a few times :) He's pretty happy with the exterior and encouraged me to do the same to the interior :)

I took these after a 2" summer shower, and a quick Z8 wipe down. It cleared up for about 45 min. then all he** broke loose. My modem got zapped and I had to pick up a replacement at CC this morning. Ahhh!!

Woob: Amazing Roll Off is an excellent deck & boat wash. I'm not sure if I'd buy it again for car cleaning duties.

Joe P. Yes, there was a pretty dramatic difference. It knocked out the swirls and finished as clean as I've ever seen from a compound.

Here's one last shot before delivery this morning :)

Wow that looks awsome.. Great job the paint has so much depth
One quick question tho, Do you think the Extreme Cut/Optimum 50/50 mix would get the same results with a pc or would it be best with a rotary?

Thank you.

The cyclo is more aggressive compared to a PC, which can make things go a bit quicker.

At the end of the day they're both D/A machines, so I would expect similar results from a PC --it just might take a little longer.
