1997 Acura Integra GSR - Grenada Black Pearl

I completed this one a couple days ago but have been too busy to post the results.

This car came to me with a very fair share of swirls, holograms, and overall dullness. I stepped into her pretty hard as she will be sold within the month. The owner wanted the swirls gone and it to look as new as possible, again. My finals were:

-CG Extreme Wash
-Zaino Z18 Clay
-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut / Optimum Car Polish (50/50) via rotary and LC Yellow Cutting Pad @ 1500 rpm
-Blackfire Ceramiclear Finishing Polish via rotary and LC Black Finishing Pad @ 1200 rpm
-Blackfire Wet Diamond by hand

-Meguiar's Extreme shine on tires (with EO applicator)
-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells
-Z16 on trim

We need a smiley that says "GREAT JOB SEAN"....

I know what I'm using this weekend. I have a car coming in with a little less than that, and wasnt sure if my hi-temp extreme leveler was gonna be enough...

Did they require many passes?

joyride: Hi-Temp Extreme cuts really well and finishes well too. You *may* be able to finish 100% with a PC.

Acura paint is as soft as they come, so I only needed one application with 3-4 overlapping passes.

Did I mention it was 94* out and (obviously) in direct sun :)?

That is a stunning turn around on those swirls. Great job! You can't even see the gold flakes in the first shot.

I was planning

Hi-Temp Extreme-Yellow Cutting-1500rpms
Menzerna FPII-polishing -1000rpms

Sorry to take this conversation soo off topic, feel free to PM if you wish.

Do you feel the halos and hazing left behind from the Hi-Temp will be too much that FPII with a polishing and a low rpms rate of 1000 won't be enough to remove and leave perfect.

I have finishing pads, just curious as to your experiences with this "leveler". First time after seeing that OCH took 2-3 passes to clear.

joyride: Nope, I think this is relevant to the thread.

I did 4-5 overlapping passes with HT EC, then removed with an MF. I then would go to FPII and a finishing pad @ 1500 rpm with 2 very slow overlapping passes. On the hood, you *may* have faint hazing. Other than that, I really have never run into trouble.

Great job as usual Sean, but i wouldnt expect anything less from you. That paint is truely beautiful once you get all those swirls out of there! I to love the Hi Temp xtreme cut, with some opt polish, followed by FPII. I did it on a mini detial I have yet to post.

Greg

Great job as usual! That paint is gorgeous. It's a shame the owner let it get like that.

Great work as always Sean! What are your thoughts on the Blackfire Polish? I was thinking of buying some when it first came out, but never did. CMA's disclaimer about not using it on traditional clear coats freaked me out a bit.

Mikeyc: My inklings about CMA and their marketing mumbo-jumbo held true. I really didn't find anything excessively abrasive about the BF polish. It cuts like Menzerna IP but finishes like FPII. I really like the product and reccomend it.

However, if memory serves me right, it feels like re-bottled PO106FF. If someone sent me a sample (don't own any), I would be able to make a more accurate surmation.

That's my recollection as well that the BF polish is rebottled P0106FF supposedly with a little more lubrication for longer working time. I 100% agree as well that CMA is a marketing machine. It's part of the reason why I avoid shopping there. However, now that they've pulled Menzerna from the places I like to shop I don't have much choice. I'm thinking of switching to Optimum or Poorboy's though.

Mikeyc: I've been down the same road.

I always come back to at least one Menzerna product, mostly their finishing polishes.

Nice work on the Scotch-Brite company car!

Man that thing was swirled up. You couldn't see ANY flake in the before shots, and it's popping in the afters.
