This was an interesting detail for me. I've never detailed a car "this old" and I kept thinking it was older than it actually was due to the body style being the same since the 70's! This car is a beast though with the Jag V12. Even in 94 this car had heated and massaging seats! Now that's what I call luxury
.
BTW excuse the lesser quality pics, I forgot to charge my DSLR and used the Sony P&S and just kept using it throughout the detail.
The car was in for a whole exterior makeover, and an interior touch up. I spent around 15 hours on this car.
When it first arrived to me:
(large scratch that needed to be taken care of. Luckily it passed the "fingernail test" so I knew it wouldn't be difficult to remove)
First up, as always, was the wheels.
Before:
They were first pressure rinsed to get rid of as much surface dirt as possible. Then I sprayed Autoglym custom wheel cleaner on the rims, and the tires/wheel wells received P21S TAW.
Next the engine bay was CAREFULLY degreased. First I "rinsed" with the hose on "mist" as to not soak any of the 15 year old electronics. Then I sprayed P21S TAW on areas easy to reach, and away from electrical components, and then carefully agitated with a boars hair brush.
After the engine bay was re "rinsed" I moved on to the body of the car. I foamed with with CG CWC and then followed that up with a 2 bucket CWC wash.
Once that was complete I clayed the car with Megs Professional Mild clay and ONR as lube. I then taped up all the chrome trim and seals to prep for polishing.
The combination for this car was a 3 step polish. 3M UK Fast Cut Plus on a 3M UK Yellow pad, followed by SIP on a 3m UK Yellow Pad, and then refined with Ultrafina on a 3M UK Blue pad.
Befores:
50/50 in the sun before ultrafina:
Most of the paint was corrected easily, but a few deep RIDS remained:
The hood complete:
