hi, i did this for a friend of mine. ever since he ran over a paint bucket, he didn't care for the car. it has only received less than a handful of washes since it happened, which was like 2-3 years ago. before the incident, it was washed more often but still in drive through car washes. the paint has never been protected for as long as i've known the car, about 5 years. since i just got my PC, i offered to detail the car for cash and surprisingly, he accepted. it took 2 days. this car is metallic black.

Process:

Mothers wash

Mothers clay

Mothers wash

Wet sanded paint splatter

thats all, i wanted to get the same angles before and after but the camera was dying so i didn't want to keep going back and forth. it was my friend's camera so i didn't have the charger. btw, how much would you pros have charged for this kind of job?

thanks. as for wetsanding, i ve done it a few times. for this job, i just wrapped the sandpaper around a stiff sponge to avoid pressure points. if needed, which was quite often, i just used my hands instead of the sponge. i just made sure i kept the pressure as even as possible. i ve also used some mineral spirit to let it break down the splatter a lilttle. it made it easier to come off with the sand paper.

if i had to do this all over again, what suggestion can you give me? anything easier would be great. it took me 5 hours jus to get rid of the paint.

Paint splatter thisgs to attempt:

1) paint thinner

2) paint removal wipes

3) Automagic clay (red bar is more aggressive if blue doesn't work)

4) plastic paint safe razor to shave it off (if it isn't firmly bonded)
