Figured I'd put my money where my mouth is and show some pic's of my BMW.

These pics were taken after a wheel clean, wash & interior detail (Griots, Vinylex).

I did not apply any tire dressing (that's old Z16 on them), nor did I apply any

wax/QD before the pics (P21S, about 2 wks old). Trim dressing is about 2 week old Z16.

Click any of the pics for a larger pic. Most files are about 100K (15sec. @ 28.8bps).

No "messing" with the photos was done other than license plate deletion.

Why can't you post more than a few thumbnails, if they're hosted on my own server??? I had to edit the post about 10 times when submitting, despite the fact that the "preview" worked fine each time....

Lookin' good Steve! :xyxthumbs My favorite is the Front shot because of the great reflection, on <em class='bbc'>silver[/i] no less. Way to go!

Nice ride Steve. :up My parents have the exact same car in the same color. I'll have to post some pics of it once I get back to Cali and clean it up for them. ;) You should get the windows tinted. That color looks really nice with full tint.

Mike

Hey Steve, great lookin' Bimmer man! The reflections are quite nice on that silver 5. Very nice job, keep it up!

Thanks guys! It's a 1998 528i with just about 55,000 miles on it. I bought it in 1999 with right around 20,000, and have driven it a lot since then. I think I bought it in September of 1999...

Planned upgrades (if I don't buy an E55 this fall) are:

18" Wheels (Fiske or Hamann) w/Bridgestone S03's

H&R Spring kit (lowers 1.25" frt, .75" rear)

Bilstein struts

F&R Strut tower braces

Autothority Chip (around 20 rear wheel HP...incredible)

Maybe some hi-flow cat's w/exhaust

Maybe an AC Schnitzer body kit (bumpers) & Clear lenses

Window tint (probably do that in a few weeks)

I also just ordered about $600 worth of maintenance goodies: Brakes (Brembo rotors, Pagid pads, F&R), new waterpump (preventative maintenance, E39's notorious for bad wp's), thermostat, hoses, belts, filters, plugs, & all fluids (differential, trans, coolant, brake, pwr strg). Should be a fun weekend next weekend! (dust off the wrenches...)

I'll post some before/after pics of our Tahoe tomorrow. My wife had to work this weekend. Those should be some good pic's. :)

Looks great... I love 528s! I cant wait to see how it will look after the modifications...

:up :xyxthumbs

whoa.. where did u order all those products? would be nice to know so i could inform my father. He is also very much into customizing his 740.. not much that can be done, but he likes to put on it whatever is available..

he currently has:

M5 racing pedals

clear corner lenses

tail lights from 2001 740

K&N Filter Intake

I especially appreciate the door jam shot. I KNOW how hard it is to work in all the tough areas....kudos!

One tip, from one perfectionist to another: on the wheels, turn the hub caps so the logo are lined up one way or another with the valve stems. On your car I would rotate the hub caps so the BMW logo is aligned with the valve stem. Make sense?

Great shots!:up

I usually try to align the valvestems/etc. for pics, but these were 2-sec. shots that I wanted to get before the sun went down. :)

Thanks for all of the compliments (and tips) guys!

Whoops - sorry, PathFinder!

I ordered the maintenance items from a place called "ImportAutoNetwork.com" I'm hoping they'll be here on Monday or Tuesday...

I haven't ordered any of the upgrades yet - rims, etc., because I might be selling the car for a Mercedes this summer. If/when I order the upgrades, I'll probably shop around a bit, and go from there.

Yeah, you pretty much have to know what you need, but their prices are unbelievable...although, they didn't send me a confirmation e-mail. I called them and they said the stuff is on the way, so I'm hoping it comes soon!

This past weekend I detailed a car for a friend of mine who had recently bought a used Nissan 300ZX. It wasn't perfect, but for a used car with over 150k miles on it, that's to be expected. And he's at best the third owner of this car that he knows of, maybe more. So I was working with an 18 year old car, definitely driven like it was meant to be, and with normal wear for its age. There were a couple of repainted panels and nearly every panel had some touch up paint on it, all poorly applied. Unfortunately, time constraints meant I had to let those go. The passenger side mirror was completely faded out, so I couldn't do anything there either. And all lower panels were sprayed with textured paint and even that was failing in places.

Anyway, I did a test spot the evening before with Megs UC on HT Cyan and M205 on LC black.

Looks good right? Thought I had it nailed, but when I came back the next day, I found out it wasn't going to be that easy. For the majority of the car, I had to step up to D300/MF cutting pads and in a few ugly spots on the repainted hood, I did M105/Megs Burgundy pad on the Flex 3401. Followed that with UC/Cyan and a round of M205/black. And through all that, I still only ended up with 80-90% correction throughout the car. I was on a time crunch that I hadn't expected and ended up having to pack it in after about 13 hours, so we had to be satisfied to let the deeper swirls and RIDS go this time.

Nice little RIDS right below the sun spot.

Finished the car with AG HD wax, OptiBond 1:1 on the tires, CG Bare Bones on the wells, and Megs glass cleaner on....the glass.
