1989 Mustang Engine

Anyone out there detailed one of these?

Was it more complicated than your newer cars?

By that I mean, since its a 1989, most likley, one is going to have to cover certain parts because of the year of built just in case.

With newer cars I never cover anything but since its an 1989 I'm a little sketchy on not covering certain things.

So, has anyone done one of these or had any problems or heard of any problems?

THanks everyone.

Yes what about Black Wow!!!

I know I can use it on certain parts.

Are you insinuating something else from a previous thread?

Not sure. I'm just nicely asking as I may be missing the point.

i think what Setec meant was that Black Wow can be used on such a large part of the engine bay since there are huge amounts of black rubber in there. Also, just as a warning, i used a citrus degreaser on mine and it peeled the silver paint off of the intake manifold... So be careful with that. Also, these engine hold ALOT of heat for a very long period of time. So be sure its nice and cool before you go putting a sealant/protectant on there. I have never specifically covered anything up, i just paid attention not to hold the pressure washer over the distributor, and alternator for a long period of time. Other than that its pretty safe. They clean up very nice when done right. Have fun and be sure to post pictures when you're done.

I figured that's what he meant by it.

I use Black Wow pretty regularly so I know all its uses and how solid of a product it is.

I was more worried about covering stuff and what not.

What year was you Stang? '89 as well?

Its got the potential to be a great extreme makeover.

I had an 89 GT hatch, and i currently have an 87 GT Convertible.

I have never had a problem with covering things up while washing the engine bay.

I've washed 100's of 5.0 motors in my day and the only part you should avoid getting wet is the distributor cap. If moisture gets in there, you won't damage anything, but you'll have a hard time starting it. Just cover it up with a towel or a piece of plastic. There's also no reason to keep the car running while washing it, keep it turned off.
