1989 BMW 325i E30 paint correction

wow man . . . . . that single stage sure cleaned up really nice! I need to get into the wet sanding thing.

Any good places to read up on wet sanding such as techniques and products? How did you learn to do it and how to figure out when it was appropriate to do?

Anyways, excellent work to say the least! Car looks amazing!

I would probably just have it restriped. I always liked that body style BMW. I had an old girl friend that had a red 86 four door 325 that it reminds me of. Great looking car. When are you coming to Bama? You may not want to hear this but my buddy with the 2006 black Maxima is in need of some major correction. I told him you said that "clear on those things is like concrete". I think I have him talked into having it done. I sent him some pics of the black prius. Anyway let me know as I won't do anything til I hear from you.

Hey mike

I might be coming down sooner then expected. I am waiting on getting approved for a new truck loan. that way it will be reliable and I can make it down to Alabama in one piece. So I will hear back from the bank today. If we get the truck then I will be able to come down and knock out all three vehicles. I might make it a thursday to Sunday trip. and I might need to order some more M105/M205 too. sounds like I'm gonna have my hands full.:buffing::woohoo::clap:

Man, Honestly, when I used to be one of the "Detailers" at Carmax I was always put on the wetsanding and touch up jobs. So I had a lot of practice on cars that the paint department could repair if I messed up. :LOLOL so basically Trial and error.

you will really never need to go lower then P1500, but 3000 can smooth down the 1500 and that cuts down on A LOT of your compounding time. You can do it by hand or with a DA. (electric or Pneumatic) and then buff out accordingly. But in the end just check for "curly cues" and you can always go back by hand and wetsand them out with 2000 grit and buff again. Also I would suggest you get a thickness gauge to make sure it is healthy enough in the first place. Most factory clear coats aren't meant to be wet sanded (much) but some can take it.

I hope that helped:wavey:thx
