My boyfriend is about to buy a 1988 buick Electra for 800 bucks. It runs great and the interior is flawless but the paint needs some care.

The hood looks really oxidized and the rest of the paint is just really dull. I will get more pictures once he actually buys the car but I was wondering what the plan of attack should be. I don't have a PC and I can't afford one right now so I was wondering if there is anything I can do by hand.

The quality of the paint isn't really important to him but it is to me so this would be kind of a personal project.

Thanks

Girl you have your work cut out for ya....

I wouldn't touch the car honestly GM has sucky blue paint those years and as you can see with the hood it was prone to clear coat failure if when taken care of..

So as far as your question of what you can do by hand.. well a good cleaner PB propolish AIO or something like that get some terry towel fold them up and work it in you'll have arms like Popye when you done but it mightmake it look better..

Looks like the clear is going on the hood and that's not good, where are you guys at in the bay?

I'm in Sonoma County would be happy to meet with you guys and see what we could do to improve if possible

Thanks for the offer and if it was any other car I would take you up on it but my boyfriend doesn't really want to go to all the trouble with a car he will probably only have for a year, at least thats what he says. When he gets it I will probably give it a good wash, polish the windows and clean up the interior if there is anything to do in there but besides that I don't think it's worth it.

Thanks anyway guys. :beer
