This is my first click and brag as Michigan has been crappy the last couple of months. So I thought I'd post my toy car.

It's an 87 Corvette Convertible w/ 51k miles. It was a very good repaint in 2003 by a local shop(owner of this car knew the owner of the shop), new top in 01 too. Wheels are Black Chrome ZR1 replicas in 17x9.5" up front and 17x11" in back. Only real mod is a dynomax collector feeding into a High Flow Magnaflow cat with Magnaflow catback.

Process

Wash - Meguiar's NXT Wash

Claybar - Claymagic Blue

Compounds - 83 then 80. I used my PC7336 with LC pads.

Sealant - Duragloss PBA, 2 coats of DG105, topped with Aquawax.

Glass - Invisible Glass.

Tires - Meg's Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant.

Engine Bay - Dusted with Meg's Quik Detailer, rubber dressed with same as tires.

No before pics(I know, next car I will).

nice, i really dig the year #s inside the hood.

very nice car, but that color is kinda bla when it comes to corvetes, bt wow you did a good job.

i know those zr1's are a paint to clean, i had a set in chrome, and then black ones

I love Brown Metallic, it was one of the reasons I like this car so much. I've had nothing but red cars up until now(I HATE red), and one of my requirements when looking at cars was NO red ones. I've liked brown ever since my mom had a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS in Bronzemist. That car actually started me on detailing.

The wheels are surprising easy to clean. Anything is when compared to the wheels on my Lincoln(see pic 3). Those are a nightmare.

I know you had repaint, but is this a factory color? If it is it must be rare and that tan roof, very cool ride.

Original color repaint in U69 Medium Brown Metallic. You could only get the saddle top with that color. 245 Cars made in that color in 87, 98 Verts and 147 Coupes.

Auto transmission. The 4+3 transmission offered 84-88 is not a very good setup because of the overdrive unit's tendency to take a dump. The later 89 - 96 ZF6 6sp is a much better transmission than the Nash 4+3.

Frito, nice username.

Thanks all for the comments.

That is one unique and sweet looking Corvette. The DG105 and Aquawax really do set off the brown, excellent choice! I hear you about the 4+3, that was one nasty transmission. You were smart to go with the auto. :up

that color is bla when it comes to any car...absolutely horrendous choice, especially for a corvette.

hey if he likes it then its all good,

but especially if it had a repaint, and out of allllll the possible colors to pick that again? i dunno.

i say red, j/k :dance

Hello, I was wondering how one goes about getting a value of a Corvette. I have my fathers Corvette, who recently passed, and it too is a 1987. It is a convertible and is the stock metallic brown color. My father had real gold trim added to it with door handles, tipped mufflers, and some trim. it has right at 40k original miles on it and the stereo/speakers are all still stock. It looks very similar to the beauty you have posted. Thanks for any help one could give, Ben.

nice man, im buying my c4 in about a month (92-96 for that lt1!). have you ever visited corvetteforum.com? its THE best corvette website out there. tons of people with an unlimited amount of information. check it out sometime

Good detail, very clean and the shine is excellent. I gotta agree with the above comment though. Tan top + brown paint + auto tranny 'vette. Yikes. That's like going in and checking the box for the geriatric package. Really it is almost too bad there isn't a white wall tire option and gold emblems.

corvetteforum.com is the place to go. Head to the C4 General section after you register and you will find out everything and anything about that Vette.
