Clean Dean
Keep it clean !!!
This Wednesday, I got the chance to detail a very special old Benz. This 1983 300 SD Turbodiesel has traveled just 39k miles during its life, and was in need of just a day of finesse detailing.
The paint was in good condition all around with typical light wash scratches and swirls, and a 3 step buff brought her back to about 90% as new. The process:
Metabo plus Hi Temp HCL with Green Edge Pad
Menzerna IP with Green Edge Pad
Menzerna FP with Edge white pad
Meguiars #21 with PC 7424
The interior took about 2 hours, and the Mercedes Benz Tex interior is absolutely the most durable material I have ever come across. I cleaned it with Meguiars APC 15:1 and looks showroom new at the completion. The dash and vinyl were cleaned then dressed with Stoners Trim Shine (rub in with MF towel for matte finish). The wood console was gentle rubbed with Menzerna FP then waxed with Stoners Bead Max.
Engine had some residual cosmoline, which protected the aluminum and metal components brilliantly over the years. The engine was pressure washed gently as not to remove original factory markings and decals and then dressed with a water based dressing before being dried with compressed air and by hand.
Not necessary a collectible Benz like a 300 SL or a 280 Se convertible, but definitely a fine example of a well preserved all original Mercedes Benz when the name was synonymous with quality.
Enjoy…
