nobody on the whole forum got egged....i had some spill over from a car that was parked next to mine..that got it bad....i wonder if anything special has to be done for eggs on the paint...i just Qd' it like i would a bird bomb......i guess we're all too protective over our cars...maybe everybody's afraid to egg an Autopians car......yeah right!!!!!:p

At least in my neighborhood, it was a kinder gentler Holloween. Ended fairly early and I think all of the kids had at least one parent with them, even the 12 and 13 year olds.

In a post from a while ago, eggs were said to be one of the worst things you can get on your finish. I think it's the protein or sum such in the egg that is real bad for your paint.

Please get it off immediately. Wash with liberal amounts of water, and wash with soap and water as soon as possible. It only takes a few minutes for the egg to attack your finish.

It will start breaking down the resins in your clearcoat, and eventually you will have to repaint.

I can't remember the thread, but I believe Ron K. gave us the details in it. If you happen across that thread, post it again. Enjoy!

That probably explains why beer is so hard on paint. It will discolor the paint overnight. :down

I stood on the bench on our walkway passing out candy. I guess being out there is a deterant, because I didn't get any pranks or any repeat trick or treaters. By the end of the night I was like, here, have some candy, I don' t care if you've been here already to people who walked on by.

I got corned heading to a football game a week ago. As soon as I seen the corn coming toward me the first thing I thought was "Oh no! What if they chip my paint!" so I nailed it to the floor and took off like a shot :D

What the heck is corned? You mean to tell me kids where you live throw corn at cars? Ugh. I'll tell you what, corn stalks are friggin scratchy. I threw some in the back of my truck a few weeks ago and a couple of the long leaves on the stalk just barely touched my paint and scraaaaaaaattttcccchhhhh. A couple gigantic scratch marks. Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, count to 10. I gave it a bath, cussed at the scratches, had a beer and decided I would buff out the marks next spring. LOL

For now my battle lies with road salt, mud, sand, snow, ice, and every other lovely thing that goes along with old man winter.

Think Spring.

They dont throw corn STALKS, or else I would have stood on my brakes, jumped out, and whooped every last one of them. That would be taking it WAAAAAAAYYY too far. They just throw the kernels of corn at cars.

I guess I shoulda been a little clearer. I wasn't implying they were throwing corn stalks, I was just in disbelief that someone would throw corn. Hence the ugh.. Your corn post just reminded me of the experience I just had with corn stalks. I'm still laughing at the thought of how you would try and throw a stalk. But boy o boy corn kernels hitting my car or truck would send me into orbit.

:p

when u care so deeply about your car....it spreads to other peoples cars.....like i saw a brand new f150 today.....at a construction site....and the guys were egging each others trucks.....when i passed by about 5 hrs later...the dried egg was all over there.....i mean its not my car/truck....but it pains me to see it....i wanted to go up to the guy and say....are u nuts....clean that up.....but they were too big:D .....this detailing addiction is scary......

I worked Halloween day at the firehouse and caught a 7 hour overtime trick covering for a hazmat incident, so I brought my truck in and did a wash and QD. On the home front, The Jeep and my son's Explorer were tucked away safely in the garage!

Someone who I new lived in Florida and said kids use to throw oranges at cars and the citric acid would just have a day on the paint.

Well, I guess compared to pumpkins, corn isnt all that bad, but its just the THOUGHT that boils my blood. Hiding under the cover of night or in a ditch or tree to throw stuff at somebody's car without them beeing able to see you is the ultimate sign of a coward. Pelting my car with ANYTHING is one of the worst thigns you can do. You can throw pumpkins, corn, corn stalks, lettuce, rocks, whatever you want at me once I get out, and as long as you walk up and look me in the face and chuck your vegetable weapon at me, but you better be able to run <em class='bbc'>very[/i] fast. Doing these cowardly acts is dangerous for everyone. People up here wouldnt hesitate to blow your head off without a second thought. Be careful out there everyone...

David was contacted to see what he could do with this, "diamond in the rough". The car has sat around for some time, and needed love. Being that I was going to be in town, a fan of older MB's, and eager to lend a helping hand, I was permitted to lend a helping hand to see what could be done to restore this classic tourer to some of it's former glory. Enjoy!
