1975 Dodge Dart Special Edition

Morning everyone.

It's been a while, but life has been crazy. I detailed this Dart last weekend for the same client with the 340 Swinger. He's a bit of a Dodge Dart aficionado. Grew up with them and has found some gems recently so decided to revisit this model.

This particular example is in very nice shape. Everything is original and it was daily driven for years before being stored. The paint had some dullness to it and the interior was pretty dirty. The owner wanted it to be *clean* and shine; no heavy correction for this 33 year old paint, but I was pretty happy with the outcome.

Interior

- Pretreat with BioKleen Bac-Out

- Steam everything clean

- Zaino Z16 on all vinyl

- Stoner's Invisible Glass on glass, mirrors, and gauges

Exterior

- Dawn wash

- Zaino Z18 with Dawn Wash as lube

- TOL Tire Cleaner cut 50/50 on tires (#0000 Steel Wool on white walls)

- EFHI cut 6:1 in wells, on wheels

- Clearkote RMG / Zaino ZAIO cut 50/50 via PC and LC CCS Red Finishing Pad @ 6

- Poorboy's S+W wipedown

- Poorboy's Natty's Blue by hand on paint, chrome, glass

- Zaino ZCS on wheels

- Zaino Z16 on tires (x2)

- Zaino Z8 on vinyl top

Awesome job Sean !!!! I am digging the 8 tracks :)

0000 steel wool on white walls. I might have to try that out.

G35stilez- Nice job on a very, *VERY* cool car! Great that it's so original.

Good choice, that RMG/ZAIO combo :xyxthumbs

Yeah, that brings back memories for me too, 8-tracks and all :D

Thanks everyone!

A unique car, for sure! I ended up seeing the same car the next morning in a different colour about 60 miles from this client's house, what are the odds?

Re: the 8-tracks. I should've taken a picture, but he had something that looked like a fishing tackle box in the back seat, turned out to be an 8-track case. No iPod hook-up in this one :).

Interesting combo, RMG + ZAIO, I'll have to try that. :)

Really nice job on the car, the paint looks incredibly wet!

How do you like BioKleen products?

Beautiful !!!!!

The owner must have been thrilled to see the results, I know I would have been extremely happy, GREAT job :2thumbs:

Superb work Sean! I never would have thought I would have seen one of these ever again.

Love the eight track. I think I still have some Led Zeplin eight tracks from when I was 12.

Lovely work and great looking car. Also loving the 8 track - brings back memories from my childhood :)

can I ask about RMG/Z-AIO please - how do they work together considering the entire mantra about zaino and no oils etc? Can you tell me what the combo adds vs each individually please - love both these products so keen to know more :D

thanks

Thanks!

Scott: BioKleen Bac-Out is great! Kills odors, tough on stains, easy on actual material, leaves a nice lime scent.

Bigpikle: RMG/ZAIO works surprisingly well. Honestly, I was just experimenting, and it turned out successful. My thought process was:

RMG for depth, wetness

ZAIO for chemical polishing, gloss

Since I topped with a paste wax, there really aren't any fouls (ie: if I topped with Z5 Pro). The car won't see much use, so I didn't need anything terribly durable. The client wanted it to shine, but not to go very in-depth (original paint).

Give it a shot, it's an easy combo to use (I mix them on the paint), and it looks great when done.

AWESOME JOB!!.. Did u mention if its original single stage paint?

Original paint, definitely not single stage though. Was there a clear lacquer option?

0000 steel wool work well

but try a SOS or Brillo pad the combo of the steel wool and soap works great on white wall/letters
