I had a regular customer call me about a detail this past friday. his dad had just took delivery of this 1972 Gto his son had his shop build for him. the car was in horrible shape paint and wheel wise. the car had sanding marks, pigtails from da sander and a lot of heavy wool pad holograms and swirls. didnt really give off a shine at all. the wheels were in worse shape with water spots ,deep scratches and oxidation. i had to perform so wetsand work to remove only the deep scratches. the car got a 3 stage cut and buff. i started the first cut with some 3m heavy cut compound and the meguiars purple pad set at 2000 rpm on the rotary. the second buff process was done with a meguiars cutting pad with the 3m 6085 rubbing compound , the final step was with a 3m blue polishing pad and the ultrafine polish. the final step was to protect my work with some butter wax. the wheels took nothing more than a little bit of wetsanding along with some mag/aluminum polish on a rotary set at 1200 rpm. so without further delay here are the pics.
