1967 Mustang window pitting - how do you fix?

I did a search, to no avail I wasn't able to find anything that could help. Most of the models were for newer car models. And I know newer auto glass is not the same.



Is old auto glass very very different? My friend is avoiding buying a new windshield ($500.00).

A pitted windshield is pretty bad. I doubt any glass polish can fix it. The only solution is to replace it.

Anything we can try to do? We'd like to make replacement the very last resort. (Trying to keep the parts as "original" as possible)

I tried a glass polish with my PC on a severly pitted windshield on a 80's Jetta. Made the glass smooth, but actually enhanced the pits (been through countless sandstorms.)
