1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/4

Like already mentioned, that car is a piece of vintage art. I would go with a carnauba on that color. Depending on how black the wheels turn out after cleaning, maybe an extremely low shine, natural look dressing (303 would be my choice).

On that exhaust, how many mufflers are on each side? I see what looks like 3. I don't think they had catalytic convertors or pre-cats in 1966.

Even in the 60's, Ferrari knew a thing or two about chassis work. Beautiful.

I'm surprised no one has asked, but would the owner let you drive it? Would you really want to?

Hello

Look great fun!!

As for the LSP, you wont loose anything by putting Optiseal on after S100, it will help preseve the looks and wont alter them. I would do 2xS100, give it 30 mins then Optiseal it.

I wanted to drive it, out of the hanger but it was snowing a bit, and I did not want to redo the undercarriage!!!

It purrs like a kitten. I was amazed at how tight the bushings were, even the axles, joints and wheel bearings.

Cheers,

A fine example of one of the greatest automotive designs ever. (And I'm not just talking about styling, the mechanicals in the car are spectacular.)

I hate you. (in a good way ;) )

Not that I’ve tried any of the LSP’s you mentioned, but somehow I feel S100 would be appropriate.

Definitely dress the tires. But use a low gloss dressing. High gloss wouldn’t be right with alloy Borranis.

Please post pix of the rear suspension and transaxle too. (and the motor, if you get a chance under the hood)

PC.

PC,

I posted some follow up shots, but I did not see your posting until after I finished the car or I would have taken specific shots just for you.

GREG

Greg, you did a great job on that vintage beauty.

How was the paint? repainted or SS paint? It looks like it turned out perfect, I don't even see any orange peel in those shots.

Great job. I too have a 1960 Ferrari 250 lined so I'll be joining you and Todd in the Vintage F Car hall of fame. :bigups

Josh,

thanks for the vote of confidence!

It was a TOP quality repaint in my opinion. Looks like it was taken down to the nuts and bolts. It had a clear coat, the paint was soft but not bad.

This owner has a 250 GTO SWB he owns that I think I worth about 2.2M and it is all orginal.

You MUST post pics of the 250 you have lined up.

I will, but it's not near as pretty as the one you just did though, looks more like an old T-bird.:grinno:

Are you going to be detailing the 250GTO also? Incredible how much those vintage F cars are worth.:goodjob

Nice job again.

Josh

The owner called me this weekend and said he saw the work and has decided to keep the car and not sell it, because it looks so damn good. That was a big kudo for me, bummer for the two bidders and the broker.

Holy smokes. Beautiful car. Yeah, I noticed the mutiple muffler-like system too. Strange.

Golly, what a reflection. Great work!

I remember you saying previously that this guy decided not to have you detail his cars, Did he change his mind? If so, I've seen his collection on ferrarichat and you're in for some fun!

He was going to sell this car so I guess he felt why not give me a chance:spot In the end he loved how much better it looked, he decieded to keep it. I think I really scored a homerun with him which will open the door to other chances to work on the collection.
