I was wondering how much people charge to pressure wash the trailors of the 18 wheelers. i drove by academy (corporate) the other day and saw a company out there just pressure washing the trailors, no dryin or soap just rinsing them off. does anyone know what the rate is for that? there were atleast 50 or 60 out there so its a full day or two day job.

I was called by a company that wasn't too happy withtheir current wash guy. I am a detailer and not a car washer but at 65 units I was interested in what the guy had to say.
If I could wash trucks and trailers for pretty much what they were paying already they would consider me for the work.
I asked how much they were paying now and he told me ............. $6.00 each!!!!!!!!!

They may have applied some type of degreaser/soap and then pressure washed off? :nixweiss
But, unless you have a containment mat, very good equipment and supplies, insurance, and some extra labor, I would stay away from these types of jobs.

i worked with my uncle a few years back and he was charging 15 each for a digorno, otis spunk meyer, and dreyers delivery trucks, not the huge 18 wheelers, but more like 12 wheelers...that was for a wash, vacuum interior, windows, pressure wash the sides of the trailer and scrub with brushes and simple green/water mixed with soap...profitable if you can get 2 guys to help you out and get about 30-40 in per day....figure about 15-20 per day per person, thats what we did in one day - 20-25, but I was new and slower and more meticulous....he had to keep telling me to "stop trying to get every little dirt spec off, they are not paying for it and they know it"
The best way to charge on those vehicles it's by feet, I'm in California and like every where you can find wise guys who pay lees for your work, I charge:rules: $12.00 foot and that means make money. Never give your gas, time and product for free. You have a fisical activity, this kind of work NEVER HAS REBATES, we work hard and we have to make good money for this job.

He has to call you if really need you, if not maybe he pays 6 bucks to ilegal people and that's real:bat . I charge $150 for a single cab Volvo transfer truck I do every winter. That only includes, wash, degrease, interior clean/dress, cleaner/wax, spray wax.
I dunno about the trailers though. If all you had to do was powerwash, and maybe hit them with a brush and soap, then maybe $70 a trailer. That's what I would charge.

Have you given any thought to just multiplying your hourly rate times how many hours you think it will take to complete the work? That is always a good starting point, especially when you are doing something that is beyond your normal scope of work.

Just as an insight -- fixed location truck washes in the Fontana/Riverside, CA area (like those at the TA's) get $45 for a basic truck wash -- that is of course if you bring it to them. With a trailer its $65-85.
