#16 streaky?

I used MENZ IP and FP with yellow pad and white for each. i clayed before hand. i applied the #16 with a mf wrapped foam applicator and removed with costco MFs. i found it to be very streaky.



There were dark marks/streaks that would not buff out. i had to use WAUD to get rid of them. i have dark blue paint.



The part that left the most streaks was when i used back and forth strokes instead of circles like i usually do. The other half of my hood i used circles and that didnt seem to streak as much, but i still followed up with WAUD. Anyone here have any trouble with #16 on a dark car and streaking?



Is there something i was doing wrong?



I have been using #26 before this and have had no problems with streaking.



Also.. i found it odd that #16 is blue! Any reason for that?
 
When I started using #16 and used too much I had a heckuva time getting it off after it dried. I never had a problem with it streaking though.



Perhaps you left some FP on the surface. You should try cleaning the surface with a quick detailer after FPing it. Make sure the QD you use doesn't have any carnuba in it. A good one to use is Meg's Final Inspection.
 
It also sounds like the back-and-forth motion didn't lend itself to a uniform application. I'd use a "regular", orbital/elliptical/circular motion with #16, trying to keep the "paste wax that turns liquid" thing in mind. As long as the vehicle and the applicator are both clean, it shouldn't cause any problems.



Also, I greatly prefer a regular foam applicator for #16. It seems better suited to this particular product and more likely to distribute it evenly. FWIW, I also prefer applying #16 by machine; I can't even *remember* the last time I applied it by hand.



And as everyone else is saying, it's hard to exaggerate how thinly this (and most any other) LSP should be applied.
