#16, Liquid or Paste

Recently Ive been using NXt tech wax as my fp.I want to top it with #16 to increase durability and depth.

1. Does #16 deepen black paint as much as #26.

2. How do you prefer to use #16, paste or wax when applying with PC?

3. Does the durability vary depending on weather itsa paste or a liquid? Ive read that paste seems to also last forever as far as one can gives a couple years of use.

4. I can pick up #26 at my local pep boys and have to mail order #16. In your opinion, is it worth ordering it vs just picking up #26.

TIA

pssst... mike, I know your out there

#16 is only available as a paste (but it sorta liquefies when you apply it). Yeah, IMO it's worth ordering; it's one of my favorite LSPs, has been for years. I almost always apply it by PC/Cyclo, works great.

No, it does't darken the paint as much as #26, probably doesn't "deepen" it as much either. But you'll have to try it and see what *you* think.

PASTE.................................................................. in lauderdale(lived in boca some years back)you need protection from the sun and rain

oops, i thought it came in liquid. have you guys used it to top nxt? I was thinking in using nxt and #16, the depth might be similiar to #26.

When I top the nxt with #16 what should I do for maintain it? Should I reapply #16 every month and the nxt will still remain or do I have to do the last two steps for my FP "nxt then #16"

Alan- you got that right. I didnt know how important it was to wax regularly and my clearcoat failed. Thats why my repaint is a SS, all I could afford at the time.

Plenty of people have been very happy with the NXT/#16 combo.

You could refresh the #16 with a carnauba-type QD or just leave it alone. I don't think you'll have to redo it every month, even in FLA, #16 lasts a *long* time. Redoing it before it needs done should preserve the NXT.

I have NXT and #16 on my wife's car. I did a full monty on it a couple months ago the consisted of clay, #83, #80, NXT and #16 all done by HAND.:D I maintain the finish with either Spray N Wipe or Last Touch. SNW leaves it clean looking and LT leaves is looking just waxed. I will probably redo the #16 in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for all your advice guys,

A buddy of mine came over last night that paints cars at an infinity in their paint shop and I talked to him about possibly repainting my car. He told me some ideas he had and all all I had to do was pay for materials. All I can say is I cant believe how cheap the materials are.

Dont get me wrong, SS paint is cool but it will be nice to have the purple pearl in the paint like factory. Besides, my SS paint was done my a maako quality paint shop and quality isnt exactly what it is. I guess I better start counting my pennies.

Spoiledman- nice job, the car looks sweet.

Quick question- will the carnuba come off after wetsanding when Im ready to paint

lol, I just had mine replaced as well, but in my case it was only fewer bubbles. Need to spray some windex on it and get it redone somewhere else. shhhh, dont tell anyone
